NFS going back to its roots

Every hard-core gamer remembers the beginning of the Need For Speed craze – the one we swore by when racing simulations came to mind. However, as the sequels came and gone (11 of them in total) the NFS fever started subsiding.

EA Sports officials realized that after their last sequel NFS: Pro Street failed to sell in huge numbers – something they haven’t experienced before. Frank Gibeau, head of EA Sports claims that the reason for that is that these series have, through the years, gone through changes and stepped away from the original concept. Most of all, NFS meant racing and police chasing as well as car tuning that brought pimping your ride to the game.

Frank Gibeau promises that NFS 12 will go back to its roots, which means we can look forward to seeing the good old NFS in its full glory. That in turn means that the 12th sequel is already in development, although Gibeau refused to share more details including the release date.

Sounds good to me. I've been a fan of the series since the first game, but there are limits to what I'll bother playing. The only problem is that if I start playing one of the games I have to finish it, and that's often not that much fun. Still, this might mean we'll have more chasing and less farming for points.

I am also a huge fan of Need For Speed and in fact i am still playing Most Wanted and Carbon pretty much on a daily basis. I totally loved Porche too.
It is true that many offerings fell short and it is indeed good news they are going back to their roots because number one was the best of them all.
Wish i could still get the first two to still work with XP though, i miss them both heaps.

Was i one of the few people that actually liked Pro Street. It was alot better than carbon

depense on which machine you played it i guess. I played pro street demo on PS3 and it suxalot. it should be called railracer or Ridge Racer 8 or so

I played it on PS3 and PC. Both sucked ass. However, if you are looking for a racer that gives you zero challenge and consistently repeats the same tricks all over again then Pro street is the thing for you.

It sounds good, driving requires no skill at all, it goes and feels fast and has that 2 fast, 2 furious feeling if you are into that. If that's what you are looking for and lots of people do, then pro street is the game for you along with Ridge Racer 8.

I'll stick with F1 and Dirt myself and looking forard to beating GM online in Gran turismo 5 proloque. Might also be a good sports bet for the casino although everyone already knows I will win.

Gazz: You never played Carbon, Most Wanted, And the 2 Underground parts then, those were 3x as easy as Pro Street was. Though i always like a good fun drivinggame, simulations kinda bore me these days

I havent got Pro Street yet but i do intend getting it as soon as i can afford but at the moment i am saving up for the next big 2x$50 sale. I may even yet go back and play Underground II again because it wasnt one of my favourites.
