Interman's Final Fantasy extravaganza

FINAL FANTASY VII

FF7, the big one, the FF that made nerds cry. It's weird to be done with the SNES era, but it's nice to go back to the third dimension. In the game you play as Cloud, a spiky-haired kid with a background as a member of SOLDIER, which as far as I can tell is some big nasty group of tough guys. After quitting you meet up with a resistance group called AVALANCHE, who seem to be trying to blow up some big reactors that are being used to suck out some kind of energy from the city.



Now that's a sword.


Woohoo, 3D. Battles seem very similar to the previous games. Your party of three can attack, defend, use magic, items, and something called limit breakers. LBs are extra powerful attacks that charge up as you kill enemies. Some LBs are simply extra powerful attacks, but a healing character may get an AOE healing spell.


That's Barret, he runs AVALANCHE. His character consists of pretty much every black stereotype ever.

Cloud was supposed to rendezvous at the train, but was late and had to make a jump for it.

Magic seems to work with "materia". A character gets spells depending on the materia equipped, and the spell level increases with use (I think!)


Off to the next reactor and Cloud has started seeing things.

On our way out we run into this guy.





Boss time


We killed him, but when he died he blew up a part of the bridge.


Uh oh.


Cloud wakes up and eventually makes it out.


Thoughts so far? Nice backgrounds and art direction. The characters look like rubbish, but the audio is good. Sure it's mostly remakes of the old tunes, but that's okay. Even after only a few hours I've been introduced to A LOT of characters, so clearly this game is focusing a lot on story. It seems relatively interesting so far...

For as far as i know you get LB's through damage, though thats a guess, was at a part with enemies doing alot of damage and i just could see the LB going like a madman!

Big update this time. We've made it to the "wall market", where we need to get in touch with some big important guy. The thing is that he only allows girls to enter his mansion, so we had to find a wig and a dress for Cloud. This traversing the stores a few times and helping some people out.


So we made it inside, and met up with Tifa.

Right after this we busted in and got the info we need. Unfortunately he pressed a button that sent us into the sewers.


Fast forward a little and we start finding out the president's evil motives.








Oh crap











The bad guys kidnapped Aeris, so we needed to find a way to the bad guy hq. After the explosion the main route wasn't an option, so that meant climbing some pipes...

At the bad guy hq you get to choose if you want to just bust in, or take the stealthy way. I figured it could be fun to go stealthy, but it wasn't. Doing that means running up 59 floors.

Eavesdropping on a meeting.


Cloud seeing things again. Inside the chamber is some kind of science experiment, and to the left is a creature that eventually joins our party.











We got Aeris, but ended up in jail. After a night's sleep Cloud wakes up early to find the door open, and the guard dead.

We fight some bosses and make it outside. First semi-tricky part of the game.


Sweet, mini-game time. The car is being attacked by dudes on bikes, so Cloud needs to slap them with his sword.


Eventually this thing shows up.








So here we are, for the first time outside of the city!
