Pretty big reactor, but you can't do much here except continue down and right. Barret talks about how he was injured by Shinra soldiers and ended up with a gun mounted on his arm.

Aeris pops up out of nowhere.

Barret's hometown, that is. He feels it was his fault that the town got torched.

But we're not here for Q_Q'ing, so we take the tram.

The gold saucer is a place with a whole bunch of minigames etc.

At the gold saucer you need a special currency to buy stuff, which you earn playing basketball and other minigames. It's pretty annoying to farm.

All the tubes lead to different areas of the golden saucer.

I still have another 61 pictures, but those will have to wait until later.

Ok!

Betting on chocobos. It's somewhat complicated, and doesn't pay that well at all.

But you get to look at a bunch of these guys.

Checking out the inn / hotel.

Finally we went to the battle arena, where a bunch of people had been killed. The police arrived just after us, suspecting that we did it. For some reason we fled the scene, and ended up being thrown into a desert prison.

Barret talks some more about his past.

Eventually we find the guy, who's now the boss of the place. Barret and him fight it out, but Dyne ends up jumping off the cliff when Barret sort of kicks his butt. Still, he leaves what we need to get out of there.

Next is the town that supposedly burned down, if we're to trust Cloud.

Well these guys weren't here before!

We head back down to Sephiroth's lair.

Surprise, surprise

Sephiroth at least recognised Cloud this time, but he flew off past the nearby mountain.

And that, of course, means we have to follow.

This brings us to a little town with a huge rocket.

Couldn't have a FF without Cid!

Unwanted company shows up, wanting the plane in his garden. We fight one of them, and take off.

But they manage to hit the plane.

So we don't get too far.

We explain to Cid what's going on, and he seems interested. Unfortunately at this point you don't know too much about where you're supposed to go next, and since I'm on a "low information diet" this time I decided to start exploring. There's a decent map this time, so you can do that without being too annoyed.

First is Wutai, some Asian inspired place. The only useful place here was the weapon shop, where Cloud got a Masamune sword. There seemed to be other stuff to do later on though, so I guess I'll drop by again soon.

The next 30 tomorrow

Nice view, but not exactly helpful.

So we continued on in the plane / boat and made it to some people excavating by what they call the sleeping forest. This guy was in fact sort of helpful, finally.

And here we are.

Guess I need that keystone, which I don't know where is.

In search of the keystone we ran into these guys, again.

I wish we could just have a massive fight and get it over with.

In a remote house that I spotted using the alternate camera angle I got a clue.

Had to be Dio, that douche.

Basically Cloud had to fight alone in the battle arena, where you fight enemies in several rounds. When each round starts you get one added inconvenience, such as broken armor, broken weapon, lower character level, etc.

Argh, you just couldn't let us leave. GOD

I guess this is why.

Defeating the dragon with the power of love.

A trip on the tram.

By meet, do you mean ...?

Our new fuzzy pal turned out to be a spy, who stole the keystone and in this pic is trying to run off.

He tosses the stone to some people in the helicopter.

The Shinra guys have taken Marlene as hostage, so we have to do what they ask for now. Next we'll head off to the temple.
