Classifying Vista as a huge design mistake out of hand is a mistake in itself, since you said you had a good experience with it.
If a company is heavily invested in XP, which MS still supports, and has machines specced for XP, does upgrading to Vista make sense (assuming that XP meets their major goals)? No way. On the other hand, what about a company that has end of life hardware and is still running windows 2000? Which makes more sense for them? Most likely Vista is the logical choice. They already have to replace the hardware, and with Vista they are supported by MS for almost the full cycle of the OS. I'm sure Vista will get its share of acceptance as XP starts to wind down.

I was pretty anti XP when it came around. Didn't want a kiddie os with a kiddie UI meant for people new to computers. I came around then, and I probably will when it comes to vista.
