I'm sure you've all seen them by now (on Gamer's Hell, http://www.gamershell.com/news_BHalf-Life2...Bscreens.shtml).

What I've noticed right off the bat about them is that no character has any actual hair, just textures. Where's the real-time fur?...I thought it was supposed to have been implemented by now. I also noticed shadows maps...Which don't look great at all...They're very pixelated...Probably low resolution ones...I know they won't have per-pixel lighting and realistic shadows, but at least blurring them (like in U2 for example) would be nice.

Anywho, apart from that, the game seems great, the facial expressions are great, and the eyes of the characters are very realistic. They really come alive and look human for once (thanks to the little shine in their eyes...Probably some environment map or just a shiny surface). I also love the aliens...It's really a lot like Starship Troopers...I've always wanted to play a FPS game like that. I think the game seems great so far, but I'm still waiting for that real-time hair and fur.

What do you guys think?

If the story is half as good as the original Half-Life's, then I will buy, not download (for once), but actually go out and BUY this game when it comes out. The graphics are beautiful, the models have improved a thousandfold, nothing looks too cartoony (which has become a big problem lately in a lot of newer PC games), and the environments seem a lot more varied than HL1's solitary Black Mesa/Xen settings.

My one criticism is that the pistol in one of the screenshots looks way too boxy, but then, it could be special type of handgun that I don't know about that's supposed to be boxy. I don't know. Either way, it's a small complaint.

I can't wait for this game! Here's hoping HL2 has just as huge a multiplayer/mod community as its predecessor. I'm almost quivering with anticipation at the thought of a new Team Fortress on this engine.

Game will rock!, no doubt about it, and even if it doesnt, there is so many HL fans that will buy, just to be 'faithful' to the devs
