Reason why blu-ray wins is because it's blue and it's my favorite colour. But yeah blu-ray won, no more reason to cry, and the players are getting pretty cheap too!

My inner Nostradamus is willing to say what possible Path of the World he is forseeing.

In 6 years, the Solid State Drive is what hard disks and Blue-ray disks are now. A product that is getting more and more affordable, being combined with the strengths of flash memory. Software and media that will not be downloaded, but bought physically is being distributed on flash cards, while in our pcs and home computers (Sony seems to be aiming at their return) will slowly-but-steadily be equiped with Solid State Drives.

Now this discussion is getting somewhere interesting. I was so done flogging the dead hd-dvd horse. Funny how Magus finds it great because of its colour. Makes you wonder if it would have been really popular with women if the blu ray group released a pink ray disc.

Anyway, both solid state drives and hd streaming will be the way off the feature. Flash however in it's current state is still to sensitive for corrupted data, so I have my doubts about it being mainstream in 6 years. I foresee it being build into the PS4 and we will get the whole crap from people who can' t see future potential in new technologies once again. I look forward to the future.

funny that ya mentioned it because some USB sticks vontain the movie Spiderman by SONY. while i dunno what the resolution the video file is I like the idea of having Full HD res Vids on a stick instead of a disc. it's also faster and if they make games like that we are set...of course it will be more expensive...not because of the additional hardwarte but because the industry tries to make more money

Well, I didn't mean an SD card of course. More like a portable SSD, with a smaller capacity and speed and that can be put into either a usb 3.0 connection or a card-reader-like device (say, a pSSD-reader).

I know and that technology is being worked on. Just saying its to sensitive at this moment in time. It (or something very similar) will come very soon.
