Would you buy performance patches?

I was discussing this with a friend of mine and we couldn't agree on this question. If performance patches for older games like Battlefield 2, operation flashpoint or Medal of honor: allied assault would be released (all still have a huge online crowd and are very unlikely to get anymore patches ever), would you buy them for a small amount of money?

Rewrites to the game engine mostly. In the case of BF2 I'd think about the tweaks added to BF2142 and using those. Technology has changed so much these days and getting a patch that is better at processing that data would be awesome. Specific vista support, new linux servers (since most clans use that) and so on.
