Does somebody know which are the system requirements for HL2? i ask this because my system specs are the following:
PENTIUM 4 1600MHZ
ASUS V7100 PRO GFORCE 2 64DDR TV OUT
256 MB DDR
HDD MAXTOR 40 GB ATA 7200RPM
ASUS 52X CD ROM
WINDOWS XP PRO
ASUS P4B266-C MOTHERBOARD
Could anyone tell me if the game can run smoothly and with good resolution on my system? thanks. :starwars:

a p3 700 + a dx6 card is minimum and a 2ghz athlon + gf4 is recommended, but the recommended specs is almost never correct, they are most often higher

Apparently a 700mhz processor and a video card capable of running DX6 is enough to run the game of course at the lowest details.
lthough a 2ghz with a GeForce4 is recommended to run the game at higher setup, 256MB+ to avoid swaping.
Based on your system the source engine will be auto configuerd to Low-Medium details at 1024x768x32.

Well, you gotta keep in mind that on a GF2, even going to 32 bits from 16 really takes down the performance...I could barely play CS at 1024x768 in 32 bits with my old GF2 MX (I would get 30-100 fps in 16 bits)...So unless there's an option to take the number of polygons down a bit, I doubt it'll be too fast on 1024x768x32 on a GF 2 Pro (you can take down some details, texture res, but the buildings and models still have to be there...And I don't remember hearing about a Serious Sam/Will Rock-like LOD system...Though that would be nice).
Just to be on the safe side, I'd say you'll need a GF3 for the game to run "ok." (They said a GF4 would run it just fine, so that implies 30fps and over, which would be just fine)
