Haven't seen any topics on this, and the game was supposed to go live a couple of days ago.

I see from what John D. put up on the front page that they are having typical launch problems with it, but I was wondering if we had any beta testers here.

Is this thing even remotely any good?

From what I've heard it's awesome but still a wee bit buggy.
I'd looove to play it but I can't afford the 14.99$/month right now and I'd rather play on a European server. Maybe I'll just wait for Saga of Ryzom instead...

It's weird, because a lot of people totally dislike the game, but then people who like it say that you're not seeing positive reviews because those people are busy playing the game. I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, but I guess I'll have to play it myself to make up my mind, although shelling out $50 + $15 seems a bit steep. I wish they'd do like many other companies, making trial version available, so people can decide whether it's worth playing, without paying.

You get 30 days free when you buy it.

People who got it on the first day were complaining as all the servers went down about 10 minutes after some people got on, not sure if they are up again yet.

I'm going to wait until it's a bit more stable before I throw my hard earned* cash to the wind.

Is it all wonder bread soft and cheezy like da movies, or does it manage to have a wee bit of substance? I hear there are no dark jedi's as player charecters. Sounds week.

NO. You can if you choose to, but you don't HAVE to do that.
