CS 1.6 & D2 1.10

I was just surfing the front page and saw that thing with steam and stuff...Is it the FINAL version of cs 1.6 that is released or is it just some kind of beta'shit??


And another one: When is Diablo 2 1.10 coming??? The plan was to release the patch in JUNE!!

i think the steam thing is a public beta.

i downloaded it, installed it, but i cant get into games 4 sum reason

the beta of the diablo patch is out.. not sure when the final will be out

lol no its not final :Q ive been using it for the past week, i dont actually think the 1.6 will come out in the next few weeks, as there still is alot of obvious bugs in the game.

BTW you need to leave steam running for a few hours depending on your connection to download all the updates for the beta etc, it dosent give u a download status, but it is doing it.

its worth trying the beta tho, as the shield rules, shame you cant use your custom packs on it tho

Yeah, ive been playing CS-1.6 for about a week now, ut updated nearly everyday, and CS was the only thing under "My Games", now they all are

I don't know why, but I just really don't like the way Steam works... There's something evil lurking beneath its crude and bulky looking facade.... I'm not talking about bugs with it, crappy design or anything of that sort. What scares me is that the thing has full access to your computer (it scans it for installed "supported" games - but who said it won't be able to scan for other things in the future?) and can use your b/w to do whatever you want... When you're on broadband you don't see that the speed is going down by much because of one particular upload or download - so it potentially can do some really evil things in background.... Add to that the "auto-updating" mechanism for games that updates when IT wants to and at the speed that their servers (1/3 od GH's servers capacity by the way) allow you to have (note that you can't even select the server to download your updates from)... So yes, getting millions of new patches for HL and CS over the last 3 years was a pain in the ass - but at least I could choose the time when I caused it to myself, without relying on soomeone else's program that is: slow, crudely designed (prone to crashing) and smells like spyware.

Just my 2 cents, but this is why I think they should bring manual updates for CS back.

the one thing i like about steam is tihs, its so damn easy to change servers ingame,, and you dont get spammed with 5 billion cs servers.

but your right it dose seem abit dodgy, the way it wouldnt even give me a status on what i was download or how long. The sad thing is everything is starting to get realy intrusive, and if M$ get there way its going to be built into our hardware so theres no getting away from it

I thaught that (the dodgy part) as soon as the damn thing started updating without promting me and not telling me what, exactly, it was updating, apparently gabe said there might be some new skins for steam or a kit to make your own, so you dont have to have that shabby green 'spyware-full' looking one...
