anyone got an hint about what they mean? This will form 3d Images with lcd on "hundred" backplanes ... and how the heck should I see last backplane if I have hundred in front? Pixels can be set to trasparent? Well.. I admit I didn't understand much, especially how it will come to cost 20% of current lcds instead of 500% but well, I'm really looking forward it now.

The 3D LCD screens I have seen worked (somewhat simplyfied) like this. Two layers overlap each other somewhat, projecting at different angles. Thus each eye gets a seperate image, wich creates the 3D effect. Problem is only that you cannot move out of the position that you sit in. If you do, the 3D effect is gone. To counter that problem some models have two little cameras tracking your eye positions, and then adjusting the angles of the LCD display acordingly.

Its all in all a very cool techology, however they still cost way too much for normal consumers. Still, prices will fall and its will be more widespread (if nothing better comes along in that time). Real 3D would be an enormous improvment to todays computers, so this is deffinatly to look forward to.

The ones I am talking about are not the ones from Sharp, just saw those today. However, there has been similar monitors out for some time... but the price tag is insane. Hope Sharp brings it down to more realistic figures.

yes well.. if what they write is real they're already relative cheap.. considering they add a full dimension to current screens, actually I have been thinking about this a lot, TV will have to be in 3D, monitors too... but I've always wondered when and how this will be obtained.

anyway if technology announcment comes out today, we will not see anything for two years still
