Vietcong... a good purchase?

I was just if vietcong was a good game or not, since on amazon.com most people say its buggy and not worth spending your money and time on it, while others say it is bug free. i also read the review on this site, but im still curious.

Never tried it, but you can find it for much cheaper than $40 in our comparison shop.

I think it's a really great game, some fun single player, and great multiplayer. Just got to live with the realism, which is nice. It's a good game I think, I've seen it for at least $25 around here during sales and stuff too, so you could find it cheaper.

yeah the price at the wal mart i live near is at $20 right now, so i think im going to get it this week.

dont be shocked if it runs mad slow even if you have a VERY powerful system.
the engine is crap to say the least, it rely so much on the cpu that a good gfx card dont do jack shit :/
and everyone knows that a damn fast cpu cant do damn fast framerates on its own

it do work for some though, but framerates do suck for most people..i have actually never met someone that got good framerates

but goodluck :P

I thought the frame-rate was fine for me, you just basically need a decent system, recent video card(I have a Gf4), somewhat fast CPU (I have 1.7GHz) it ran great. Online for the demo was very laggy, so don't base the MP on that. It's fine if you have an OK system.

There is a single-player demo and a Multi-player demo both available from here. Try them out before you spend any money

I finished the single player part of vietcong, and i liked it. the game is quite exciting, and lets you experience the war in a pretty neat way. the game ran nicely on my box, although at times the framerate did go down below what it should've been. multiplayer is nice too, but i dont know how many still play it

check the official forum and you will see that loads of people have framerate problems and they have far better system than you do

i do too (xp2600) and a gf4 at 275/630 and 512mb

my framerate at the base for example is horrible, around 15-20 :/

and to really check if the game do use the true power of the gfx card is to put on some aa and some af.
try it, you will get the same performance

i tried it and i got exactly the same performance without anything and 1024x768 and with 4xaa and 4xaf at 1024x768

and it also run at the same framerate if you put it down to 640x480 and lowest settings

now that really blows :puke:

so do as bucky said, download the single player demo and try it before buying something you will most likley regret

I just don't run with any AF or AA for that exact reason. My framerate was kinda jumpy at first, but then I switched it to put the texures in video memory and ran great. You could try that to get a bit more performance...I don't know.
