i trully feel sorry for them...
Originally the source code leaked in a 32meg package last week. The leak spelt the beginning of an investigation into how this could have happened. The result? A flurry of forums across the internet all buzzing about the leak of code to one of the most anticipated games of all time. Most believe the leak of source code is a bad thing and yet the leak of a beta copy of the game isn't. Today the Half Life 2 Beta leaked across the world onto the internet via IRC channels. It seems true as far as I know. It's been announced, though it hasn't spread too much yet.
I guess in a day or two, when hundreds of people have it, we'll know for sure. I feel bad for Valve and HL2 though...If it comes out in 2004, other good/good-looking games will have been released by then. HL2 might not be as great as it would have been on Sept. 30. Well, I guess we should thank the wonderful piece of software STEAM for the first delay which lead to this. Btw, the video looks like it's from a crappy map made by someone who got the (part of the) source code...I'm not sure if it's from the beta. |
