I'm not gonna get it. One, it takes up 6 Gb, which would force me to delete all but UT2003 and mods. On top of that, it's expensive, and a pay per play thing. I won't be buying it on PS2 either. $99 for the HDD which comes with the game on it, plus $39 for the network adapter, plus the subscription. Blah. MMORPGs blow.

The game is cool.....if you know how to speak japanese lol. Don't know WTF square enix was thinking when it released this in the US. Did they just figure americans know how to speak japanese lol. If you don't already know all the servers are in Japan and We connect to Them, not vice versa. In the same sense we join servers that people have been playing on for over a year LOL. Always fun your first day playing to see people lvl 50+ all over speaking a different language than you haha. Anyway if your already playing a mmorpg and dont speak japanese or know how to read it then I would NOT recommend this game. I'm very dissapointed that they didn't give US people their own servers and for this reason I dont know how much longer I will be playing. Sorry for the spam rant off.

oh yea about the game, its alright. nothing spectacular though in my opinion. Personally I enjoyed Everquest the most of all the mmorpgs ive played and ive played alot. I'd recommend Everquest over FFXI easy in playability functionality and enjoyment. FFXI has a horrible interface, they geared it towards the PS2 controls or something in lack of customization. It's pretty sad when you can only choose between two different config settings for your keyboard and both suck! On top of that you cant remap keys!!! and as far as hotkeys you cant just hit one key it has to be a comination like ctr + "x" or alt + "x" which is ANNOYING! I dont know what they were thinking when they made the interface. Another gripe is locking onto mobs when you fight. I dont know who came up with this idea in MMORPGS but its really dumb. like its not easy enough to hit attack and walk up to a mob. the locking on to mobs actually hurts the gameplay i think because it slows things down with switching targets and crap like that. anyway sorry again about the paragraph but i think the game just could have been like 10000% better.

ffxi sux...control is too frustrating to use.
Go play Dark Age of Camelot. They got third expansion already with awesome graphics. Its been up for awhile so its stable. They got crazy 60vs60vs60 people battle...if you got a good computer, you'd enjoy it. Groups, chat, and raids are very organize and fun. |
