I also heared that my Xbox can play all 16-32 bit consol games....but it might be a rumor-depense if it's ok to talk about it here. :dennis:

i would definitely say an xbox, even withought getting it modchipped it's by far the most powerful console out there, and it's also rapidly becoming the console of choice for developers (previous ps2 exlusives are now on xbox aswell, ie. GTA).

of course, the desicion is up to you. all are quality consoles and it depends on your preference of games as to what to get. (platformers = GCN / FPS = Xbox / General mix of games = Ps2).

As KamisoriX said, with a modchipped xbox you can play all classic 16-32 bit consoles (including ps1). You can also play N64 roms, with a very high compatibility rate. But bear in mind that this is considered illegal if you don't first own the original copies of the games you play.

The Xbox is also getting a load of the future pc games coming out; like HL2, Doom III and Breed. So it could be classed as a cheap alternative to upgrading your pc.

Oh yeah... and it gets Halo 2, which in my opinion is as good of a reason as any to buy a console!
