So....what's next? Which kind of graphics are you expecting in the future?
Of course there's doom3 (black9), hl2, far cry but what other games are to be visually extremely "pretty"? Please post links to screenshots if you have any.

Yeah, all those and I know of Abducted also, which uses the Doom 3 engine. I can't think of any other advanced ones, but I'm guessing that Zombies game will use something similar. There was one more which looked nice, but I can't remember the name anymore. I know you'd start seeing things based on how scared you were and things like that...It sounded promising.
Anyway, I can't wait for Pacific Assault. They haven't hyped it up as much as other games, but it looks great, uses the same advanced features as other games, and it's one of the games which will almost surely be good, since it's a MOH title and those have been good in the past. (for those who like WW2 games at least)

Oh, by the way, since we're talking about what we expect from future engines, well, I expect better AI, since CPUs are getting much faster, and I know they'll move on towards DX9 soft shadows, since games don't use that yet.
I've only seen them in screenshots from a U engine tech demo...And they should make games look pretty damned realistic-looking (better than the pixelated, sharp Doom 3, Thief 3, etc. shadows).

i think we'll move in the doom 3 direction, by having more and more rendering passes, and longer shader programs. However, im pretty sure we'll see some good use of displacement mapping (like bump mapping only you make actualy changes to the polygons, it doesn't just look like it), but it isn't implemented all that well in dx9, so that'll probably wait until the next release.
but yeah, AI will be afforded more CPU cycles, so it'll be fun to see what kind of a difference it makes
