Okay guys, seems the creativity came to a grinding halt in the last thread, so now let's focus on story and missions.

The game's name is Old Man Rutherford: The Awakening, and has been decided to revolve around our hero who has spent many of his years on an insane-asylum. 30 years ago he just barely witnessed a crime he shouldn't have, because if the truth comes out then it could be potentially devastating for a certain group of people. After years of having been drugged beyond reason he one day decides to skip his "life saving" medicine. That very same day Old Man Rutherford assaults a nurse (not in that way). Using unconventional means you must escape the insane-asylum, try to find your old friends, investigate the traces of the path, and decide upon what actions to take (think Deus Ex). Old Man Rutherford: The Awakening is a open-ended adventure FPS, filled with political intrigue, action, and occasional poo-flinging monkeys.

Okay, I've started, now it's up to you guys to decide what happens next in terms of story and gameplay

The part with trying to find old friends is actually a pretty cool idea. As the bad guys realize that Rutherford is gone they start by searching his former neighborhood or "visit" houses of his friends. That could lead to a lot of cool action, i.e., Rutherford knows this old cook and imagine action in a restaurant (where the crime happened 30 years ago and you have flashbacks and stuff) with all those civilians. So you get to choose, maybe somthing like in hitman, if you wanna play terminator (use people as human shields and shit) or rather mr. nice guy (ok, you have to kill people anyway, but only the bad guys, right? ;-)). As the locations vary also enemies are belonging to different groups, you have police, agents (political approach), the mafia-guys (or whatever), some wierd nazi scientist, of course monkies, later on SWAT and the 101st airborne... maybe that'll do :-).

This would be pretty kewl if the story took part in the 60's and 70's.
Our old hero at the time was investigating for the US government, the rumors that high nazi officers espaced Berlin, (possibly the fuhrer himself) and where helped by some secret political group. This secret power was trying to get more information and possibly turn the US in some new-age Nazi state. One of the Officers made an appointment with our hero and told him that he had more information about this theory and that his own past could prove it.
They made a deal on the phone (wich was wired of course) and decided to get together in an italian restaurant
When he arrived a the restaurant the witness was there (They decided that he would wear a white hat or something)
And it turned out to be A high level SS-Officer, who was rumored to have been killed at the battle of berlin.
The conversation was just going when suddenly outside 3 cars braked and several individuals came out and started shooting everybody. Our hero and witness ran for cover and altough they managed to surive they where caught by these strange individuals. The SS officer was taken away by them, and our hero was shot and left for dead.
In the Hospital everything went normal in first instance. He tried to warn his doctor what at happend but wen he told the doctor, the doc looked at him (in a strange way) and a few hours later , 2 strange persons turned up at rutherfords bed. And he was taken away. He heard the doc speaking to them, that putting him away was the best option (they didn't know if soembody else knew of rutherfords meeting and if someone would find his body the orginisation might be exposed. Rutherford was put into the Kriegstein Assylum where he spend 30yrs in a rush not knowing what was going on. Untill a few mothns ago. Flashbacks were getting more intense and looked so incredibly real that he realized there was more going on. He regained more and more of his memory, and is taking less and less medicine.
Yesterday he skipped all of them and now he wants some answers....

Weapons (and some Xamples wehre 2 get em )
include :

-Scalpels
-Old thompson Gun (givin by old 101st airborne friend)
-Baseball bat (stolen from dead mobster)
-Morhpine (2 stun people)
-Nail Gun (picked up from construction workers that where renovating assylum)
-Colt .45 (of course, given by Bucky aslo old war vet.)
-Big Kitchen Knife (picked up in restaurant)
-Chains
-Submachine Gun (you can buy in a store or rob the store 2 get it )
-Assault rifle (same story)
-sledgehamer
-garden tools
-Lawnmower
-double-barreled shotgun (we need 1 )
-Molotov (ez 2 make for someone that is on a rampage)
-M60mg (he is a strong old dude =) )
-Stapler
-Pitchfork
-Brick (2 smash peoples faces)
-Spear (given by old Zulu)

Just think of something usefull people

Jake Rutherford...

-Just a normal guy, a bit of a loner. Liked two hang out in that Bar on 56th street, you know where they sold beer cheep and warm. No criminal record how that could have happend beats me, of course he earned some money selling some stolen things, but he who didn't those days.
They say he had a drinking problem and that the combination of alcohol and medicine made him go crazy, you know post-traumatic crap and all that shit. That aint true. Sure Jake liked a couple of beers, and he was taking some medicine every now and then, mostly cause he had a hang-over again.

What did you ask?

-No.. can't remember what he did for a living though,he didn't had a real job for all i know,he was just always busy with things.. oportunities you know what i mean? Some say he worked for this secret agency, but i can tell you Jake could have bin president for all I know but he sure wasn't working for some CIA or something like that.
Nah, I do know he spend a lot of time in the docks, waiting for some stuff he could sell and make a little profit out of.

What?

Noo, not weapons or anything of that, simple stuff sometimes he managed to get hold of some clothing. He even came home one day with these womens panties. Eventually he gave em away to this lady who was living down the street, nice girl I remember. That was Jake you know, if he couldn't make a profit he gave stuff away.
As long as he could buy his beers everything was fine for him.

Huh?

No that that I know of, even if that was true he never told me about it. No the last time i saw him he was normal, never told me anything. But then they put him away in that Home for crazy people. Never saw him since.

K no problem give me a call if I can help you again gentlemen, I'll let you out now

-Doors closes, and he walks to the phone, starts dialing-

-Yeah they where just here, no don't worry didn't told them a thing, but what do we do when he finds out?
O yeah thats true he won't, we didn't put him away so he could remember right?
No no relax, he is 30 yrs older now.
so i'll see you tonight then alright? K everthing is setteled then.

ok.... Guys, let's make First 10 mins of the game... Think HL and MP series for storytelling.


*1st cinematic*
Old man Rutherford wakes up in his bed in the asylum.... the light shines through thw window, with a ray going towards the door of the compound he's located in... Old man Rutherford who is in his late 50's now, had a long beard, is terribly unshaved and is badly underfed, wakes up.... Looking around the room and seeing the other patients "sleep" in their drugged up dreams, he smiles as he takes out the pills he was supposed to take the night before from under his pillow. This is the second night in the 19 years that he spent in this asylum that he didn't take the pills - first time he managed to gaggle out minutes after the nurse left him, having checked him taking his "recommended" daily dosage of ketamine. That night he has planned his escape and wrote notes for himself, specifying how he will escape the facility... Old man Rutherford gets out of his bed and hides in the closet next to the exit from his locked from outside cell, armed with a crowbar he found in the room (hi, half-life!!!!)....
*2nd cinematic*
The old, ugly and annoying nurse is walking into the room to check up in its occupants. Old man Rutherford doesn't know her name, but he saw her face before, shen she was drugging him... As she walks into the room where old man Rutherford turned off the lights, she's trying to find the on/off switch - just before old man Rutherford hits her with the crowbar in the head... Her skull crushes, while brains fly all over the place... Old man Rutherford takes her ID card and walks out. On his way out he grabs a doctor's uniform, puts it on, and goes down via an elevator, for which the security card was needed. However, he doesn't have a real doctor's badge required for EXITING this secret government installation.... And so, the next moment you confront a guard, eating a doughnut on his post, with your trusty crowbar.
*Gameplay level #1*
After the guard is eliminated with a few quick blows of ur trusty blooded crowbar, you take over his gun (containing only 10 shots), and that's when the real fun begins. You (as old man Rutherford) find your way out a-la Half-Life from the underground "mental asylum" (read - camp for political prisoners) controlled by the Govt.......

I like that. Maybe instead of a crowbar he found in his room at the mental institution (hey, who left THIS here?), he stole an inkpen from the nurses' station earlier in the evening and dispatches the nurse (dumb bitch) by stabbing her from behind, neatly inserting the pen between two ribs and into her lungs, preventing her from screaming (old army trick, special forces or something). Rutherford (who needs a first name?) grabs the nurses I.D. badge with the ever-so-crucial bar code on the back (for opening doors in a secure facility) and enters the hallway. In the janitor's closet, he finds a crowbar, a bottle of bleach and a spray bottle. The bleach goes into the spray bottle and now the Old Man is ready to take care of that pesky guard (who, earlier, made an unfortunate comment about putting his dick in Rutherford's dinner before delivering it to him). Sneaking up on the guard ('cause old men are sneaky as hell), Rutherford whistles to get his attention. As the stupid son of a bitch turns around, he get about 3 or 4 good squirts of some color-safe to the eyeballs, allowing Rutherford enough time to remind the guard of his past indescretions by placing the crowbar across his cheek bone, crushing it and it's owner. The Old Man gets the gun and the desperate bid for freedom begins...
