Hello Fellow Gamers,

I have an evergrowing problem that needs to be addressed, and should be taken seriously!
Many PC gamers have a DSL/Cable/T1 connection. BUT, there is always those misfortunates that don't have the money or resources to step-up to a faster connection ( from 56k). I was an unlucky person like that a few weeks ago, but i got DSL. I respected that many people would like to have fun while playing online, so i restricted myself from playing ANY game online, until i got my DSL. So i waited and waited. A few days after i got BF 1942, my DSL came, THATS when i started playing it online, when i knew that my connection could handle it.

Now to the point.

People with a ping of 200+ shouldn't be playing BF 1942, yet any other game. 100 ping is really pushing the boudary. Having a high ping of 200 really takes any fun away from a game to be involved. It tends to create high ping and ruins the gameplay.

Now, i am not you, so i can not tell you to stop playing online totally, this is only a suggestion. This is a growing and troublesome problem that needs to be helped.... really... please concider getting DSL/ Cable if you have 56k... please?

But you are merely a teenager, supplied by hard-working people in your family. There are 18 year old's with jobs that can't even afford cable because they don't call it a necessity, which it isn't, as 56k can do everything that cable can (without the constant connection). Those people with 56k's and other people that are lucky enough to have cable or DSL are also supplied with Bots (BF 1942, C&C Generals, Jedi Knight 2) which are also my favorite form of entertainment (with the occaisional butt-kicking online, ofcourse, and also MMORPGs). Put more into consideration about the older ones that can't afford it and are not constantly supplied with money.

I agree with rhett some people can't afford it but in the end DSL/cable/t1 is absolutely needed and small businesses couldn't survive without it. I consider myself lucky because when high speed internet came out my family got it right away which was years ago i mean right when cable and dsl and isdn technology were available on hte market. As for the whole don't play if u ain't got high speed well DUH.. its common sense but i understand milkdudman it can get frustrating and ruin the fun entirely when lag emerges.

Other people's low pings DO NOT slow down your game, unless you are playing Doom I or II, or some other old Duke Nukem type game, because we use new technology now (haha, new, hmm... 6 years maybe? ), that makes your personal connection denote your ping.. hence why you can have someone with 60 ping in a server and someone with 100... this is because either the person with 100 has a slower connection, or the the server isnt fast enough to send the information over a long distance, if the person is a few thousand miles away (or over sea's like UK to US). So Basically, when people kick people out of the games for Lowe Pings, its usually because its shitty playing againsed someone with a low ping, they are no fun... and when you hear people complaing about people with low pings, and why you should kick them... they are talking rubbish, based on old tech that isnt used anymore.

k?

Look Rhett, i might of not addressed it, but i know some people aren't as lucky :S. If they aren't as lucky ( which i understand) why ruin other peoples fun. I knew that i didn't have the capabilities to play most games online, and i recognized it. So i didn't play. I know im lucky enough to have it, but im just addressing that people with dial up should watch what games they play online. like BF 1942 for instance.

I know what it feels like to have dial, i just recently switched. Dial up does have all the capabilities, but 56k just lacks.

I wasn't trying to burn anyone with dial up, im just stating that they should limit themselves on what they do.

LOL sy
you are right though and most of the time its not cause they have a slow connection its cause like u said the server isn't fast enough to send the information over a long distance. This can clearly be seen in pubs that have only one server running and its hardware is obviously limited compared to high end servers which can handle connections coming farther away from its native location.

your problem is easily sorted mikdudman, there are loads of servers which only allow people with low pings to join. enter one of these and never will you be bothered by 56kers again
