The question addresses itself mainly to the programmers under the Heller!
When (does) your first steps in programming for it made? (When did you start?)
In which Programming Language?
And at which age?
When it then your first engine wrote (age)?
Their it without assistance created? (You made it without assistance?)
I do (try) momentarily Java - quite good - My Abilities are not enough!
Wow - that is my 25. Post ! (1/4 100 Post )
I made it - good. (I will make it too.)
To the Admin (s) - I think it's a question with something like a gametopic - but, if not - it's not my fault!

hmm, the first real programming language i used was pascal, back in 96/97. had my fun with it, but i moved on to html, various web scripting languages (made so much garbage ), tried a bit of basic (just for kicks), moved on to c/c++, did some php for various school projects, and next up was probably visual c++ with opengl. the last half year or so i've been coding java for a course at the uni. i dont really like how java does some of the stuff it does, so im planning on jumping ship from java and back to visual c++ with opengl or dx9, and c# for inet-related stuff.

I first started programming back in 1998 in HTML/Java and then shortly after moved to C++ where I have been since. I guess I was 16 at the time, yeah really early but I needed a hobby after my injury.
I wrote my first engine when I was 18, It was a shity 2D scroller about nintendo graphics. I made the entire thing on my own, only thing I was actually proud of, lol. Im currently working in the game industry working as an AI and Engine programmer. Want to give me a job?

Well I guess I started programming 2 years back in JavaScript, and moved on to Actionscript, then CGI, PHP, ASP, Pascal, C#... in that order! B)
Ofcourse I know HTML, XHTML, DHTML, XML and VML, but I wouldn't really call that programming...
I guess I am the most proud of my CMS, which contains a forum for my website, and a business application I wrote at college, which is widely used... I'm currently working on a very nifty 3d engine, (see buggy avatar), which is going to be massive :

Java is not good language to start programming. You should start with C++

that depends on what he wants to do, and how much time he has available to learn it. c++ isn't a very easy language, so he might learn more by starting with something simpler
