Samus the next lara croft?

Metroid to come to the movies :Oo:

Jon Woo, director of action movies like Hard Boiled and Mission Impossible 2 has picked up the rights to Nintendo's Metroid series and plans to make a movie based on the franchise.

If it actually gets made (the last group to buy the rights to Metroid let their license expire), it might be a pretty cool flick :thumbup: . The games have a good narrative to them that would probably translate well to film, and don't forget Samus Aran, the girl with sexiest space-suit in the biz.

Could Samus be the next Lara Croft?

Ohh and one other thing since i'm a movie guy and in the business i just wanted to ad something. I have studied John Woo's style and he loves explosions and cinematic fallacy. He is excellent at capturing shots of explosions and has them come out perfectly in films (his pyrotechincs rock) but do you actually think that he is the man to do this film if it gets made. humm I can't answer that now becasue I want to hear more on this subject done the road but I am curious to see what you guys think about this and if maybe they should have picked someone else.

it would definitely be an interesting result, but if he's the perfect director for the project might be debatable..

Probably it's gonna be Analie Jolie like all other movies with the same character but I hope not.....well well we'll see

It will definately not be Angelina Jolie. She already plays the Lara Croft character. If anything, it has to be a female actor with some muscle. Not anything like big muscular arms, just someone who could play a strong character. For example, Michelle Rodriguez but not her please. Sigourney Weaver would be great for the role but she is passed due and she did play a bad ass female in Aliens. Milla Jovovich would be great but she is too busy with the Resident Evil series. Hmmmm.....maybe Scarlett Johansson in a couple of years and a thorough work out. What about Carrie-Ann Moss? She is pretty bad ass.

i was thinking about michelle rodriguez myself, but i think she'd annoying in that part. carrie-ann moss might do, but whenever i think of her i think of black clothing, shades and all that. in my opinion samus needs to look more feminine than her. scarlett johansson fits that picture, but i couldnt ever imagine her firing a weapon against evil alien dudes. i think we'll need someone less known, or even unknown.

hopefully if the project reaches greenlight status then they will widely release more news but I would think that it would have to be an unknown WHY? i say this because think about it. They are gonna have a hard enough time marketing this flick to everyone besides gamers-- the average person soo they want to pick an unknown not only is it cheaper but the film will not get labelled. EX. ohhhh angelina jolie is in that i don't like her is what some might say and vice versa.
