How do you know your graphics card won't run it?


I recall messing around with the alpha leak, at 1280x1024, and having no framerate problems at all with my 9800pro 256...

I'm pretty damn sure that the x800 will be able to handle the game at great rates. 3/4 of the technology in doom 3 is already a year old. Don't get your knickers in a twist.

DOOM3 is a nobrainer for me as an old gamer but HL2 I have to check first. If they force you to use steam to be able to play Mp then I won't get it...If I can just play our of the box I might think about it. I probably gonna play HL2...but do I gonna pay for it depens on how Valve manage it... :dennis:

You'll need like a 6800 ultra for high detail at 1024x 768, it should still look great with Geforce4 Ti 4800 or Radeon 9500...
at low(er) detail-g4mx wil even look great.
For higher(est) Res at high(est) detaial you'll need a card with 512mb memory, and something like 3.6ghz CPU 2GB mem...

Anyways I was just saying Doom 3 is pushing beyond current hardware,
more so than Far Cry which I can’t play at good fps maxed out.

Ok, one thing you should know. I own a SGI workstation with a Wildcat...while it's a couple of years old wildcat.
They are great cards to render but they are not the best to game on. Why? I have no idea. I guess they are just made to work with and not to play with.

PS: after all this time and ATI still havn't maneged to make a card with 2 DVI output....buuuuuuuhhhh
