Do you still remember games like mortal kombat or some old soccer simulations. Do you remember exciment and adrenaline in moment when you're going to kick virtual ass to your brother, friend, girflriend, father or somebody else?
Today we have NBA Live, unforgetable Worms and Halo in cooperative mode. But, just imagine Fifa 2004 in two players on one comp, or even some FPS with split screen option! That sounds good to me. And I really want to see what you think about this trouble. |

[/b][/quote] It will be a SFPS ( split first person shooter ) Who knows... Consoles do work that way, take Red Faction 2 for example... Maybe one day theyll do something like that for PCs, with the CPU and video cards processing powers already beating Moore's law, and a 17"+ monitor becoming a norm (even though that cheap/broke people - just like me - still use their old, circa 1997, Compaq V50

So what Tommy is actually wondering is if there will be coming Multiplayer games to the PC tht can be played with multiple players on one Computer, for example splitscreen games??
Now that's a whole of a lot different thing then Cooperative games!! And btw, can't u play Fifa2003 with ur mates on one workstation and u can play games like Micromachines(that racer from Codemasters) and Worms with more people on one PC already... But what he means is: "Will there come any Splitscreen First person Shooters to PC-CDrom, right??" Well, My guess is NO, and the reaseon for this is that u can have multiplayer games online so why would u crawl with four grown men behind one little fucking screen if u can have a whole monitor just to yourself? Doesn't make any sense, now does it Tommy??!!

Carnage: I think by "Will there come any Splitscreen First person Shooters to PC-CDrom, right??" he means slpitscreen AND playable in coop mode at the same time. Meaning you can not only play multiplayer, but singleplayer missions together, all on one PC. I think it'd actually be possible, if you would connect a second controller to the PC and simplify controls to be simple enough to fit all the game control options/keys in there. That'd actually be a very nice thing; imagine playing an FPS in singleplayer together with your bud covering up for you while you despatch a horde of *insert monster's name here*... Sounds fun, and technologically possible I'd assume.

too much coding and would strain a good graphics engine. Although graphics cards may be technologically advanced, they are still bottlenecked by the processor and motherboard. Having the possibilty of having to render twice as much information (say you are on one side of a map, your buddy on the other) I dont see hardware being able to keep up with drawing both of these(rendering long distances is usually helped by fogging). The graphics engine would have to be scaled down to accomodate this. when computers have the power to do so, the engine would still not be able to support as much as an engine that is only concerned with running one screen would be. its then not economically advantageous to have the engine because people (mainly "hardcore" gamers who make up the majority of the game buying population) would much prefer to be able to have the engine with all the bells and whistles that looks awesome, rather than having a scaled down engine with the novelty of having split screen. Coop (like Team Death Matches, etc) are commonplace now, and are quite easily set up overmultiplayer. There is also the problem with dual controllers (not sure how USB/firewire/whatever next technology is works with handling 2 controllers at the same time) using the processor.
