O yes, and another thing, CSSource is not a mod if its developed by valve and might be the only mulitplayer HL2 provides.
As for the bf42 patching, yes it did add a lot of content, I tahkn them for that, its teh best patching ive ever seen, second goes to the UnrealTornument series. However the state of the gameplay and playablity and netcode is completely reinvented since the original, I don't want my games to be glitchy or rushed, or hyped, sadly HL2 has gotten themselves into this perdicament, they already are a year late on from when the said they would release, and keep saying, itll be out summer, then itll be out fall, and soon, itll be out winter(althought the game looks to be finsihing development from what ive seen). So they really can't say, we need another year to work out the bugs, because then a lot of people are just going to drop HL2 because of a 2 year deley. and by that time unless the textures and models get serious reworking and normal mapping gets added, the graphics will be of a 3-4 year old game. HL2's graphics, and physics(karma and havok are on the same level), are as good as UT2k3, which came out in 2002, its a long overdue game. |

Well, I wait and see...but for some reason I get the feeling I gonna get HL2 anyway.
I'm just not excited about Valve products and doubt they will release the game this year but if it comes out and it's good I get it

I got a graet idea for a mod
Imagin: a mod. where one party plays terrorist that can lay bombs or hold hostage and a counter party that tries to defuse the bombs or free the hossis. man, like always I get the best ideas. i think I gonna call it Retaliation Punch.

Now Mr HL2 fanboy(vomiter) You know what I really love? the fact that you wanted this topic locked so that no one could respond to you, so you HAD to be right, well guesss what, it doesn't work that way, I get to prove you wrong.
Now, I really love the 3 paragraphs titled just to me, your rant now includes personal attacks! yey! And each of those paragraphs, you were mistaken. 1st, You need to check my phrasing I said at least 550 mods, yes, now there will be 600 or so mods(check moddb and do some estimates for new ones) 2nd, I can judge a game by 4 things, the final product, engine specs(sound system liek fmod, DX9) that are given near release, screenshots(not videos) of ingame play of the near final product, and the developers track record, I have not assaulted the final product and only stated the videos can be faked and need not be listened to, I stated that the sound engine in DOom is CPU based and therefor much crisper on the older and worse sound cards, while HL2's isn't, and also that OpenGL supports crossplatforming while DX does not, and also by using screenshots the graphics aren't nearly as crisp as most games that came out since 2002, and lastly that Valve has a sad track record on release dates, SDKs, and new products. 3rd, CSSource is not a mod, because it is developed by valve for their game, mod means modification, and if its in the product then its not modified, it is the product. So CSSource does represent HL2. Now on the other staments: Bugs are unavoidable but their presence can be minimalized, HL2, source, and CSSource(the test so far) clearly show their presence is not minimized.(also valve's track record shows that in all products they have ever created, they were riddleed with bugs in release, HL, Steam) On the release date... It ain't gonna happen, ill gladly bet on that. I love how incorrect nearly everything you said(is it everything?) in that post is, and how you wish that no one says otherwise. |

I just tried the CSS and must say it looks ok, not even good. and only one map to try it on.
I wonder how much better HL2 looks if it's already based on it's graphic source :P ![]()

It is the graphic source, there is a decent possiblity(something like 40-60%) that CSS is the only multiplayer that comes with Hl2 in the box.
HL2's graphics are no better then CSS's, the interacatablity might be a bit more(physics kill netcode), Dor the reason it doesn't look so good is partially because Doom3 uses an effect called normal mapping which I don't think HL2 uses, it allows x,000 models to look like x,000,000 poly models(its a type of bump mapping, you make a map of the high poly(the models for the normal maps are in the millions) and ur vpu applys it to your low poly(in the thousands) to make it look like the high) Unreal 3 also uses this effect(they explain it in depth in the Unreal3 e3 video)turn off bump mappin in Doom3 to see it witout the normal maps, turn off bump mapping, youll see the difference(it is used becuase high poly can't be rendered in real time apps like games and still be playable, so this breaks the poly-performance limit) Actually Ill post a screen... |
