bullshit benches.
people on every forum on the net (hardocp,beyond3d etc etc) is questioning these results since everyone else have gotten way better results. either driverheaven is extremely biased or they f**ked up badly. here is a better bench from the hardocp forums. ""rancor" did some fair testing, came up with the following: FX53 processor 1600x1200, 4xAA/8xAF, all options on 6800U 61.77 - 80fps 6800U 65.62 - 87.fps x800xtpe 4.8 - 97fps 61.77 - 20% slower than x800xtpe 65.62 - 10% slower than x800xtpe Is it really all that surprising DH comes out with this junk when they have been benchmarking the 6800U with tri opts off versus the x800xtpe with triopts on for the past couple of months?" the ati card wins (which we all knew it would) but not by the extreme margin driverheaven had, not even close |

i dunno, this goes right along with the intial benchmarks. HL2 can also run the NVIDIA cards in none full precision which gives some better performance but it looks worse..
But i see nothign that disproves these results, hell going with the intial benchmarks back in 02-03, this fits right with them . Gimme the link to that. also how about HWHell benchmarks it for us :P ![]() |

Well, clearly these are fake, or nvidia needs to tweak their drivers a little bit more ;)
I don't doubt the capabilities of the cards though, looking at their specs, the differences in the benchmarks are outrages. Anyway, this is a big smack in the face for nvidia if these will be the final results, wonder how much ATI paid Valve for this ;) ;) ;) ....... More interesting news would be a copy of the benchmarking tool

anyway, read the forums on the net and you will see, everyone thinks they are extremely strange since they are the only ones that got such strange results but hey, im just trying to help, its up to you what to believe in http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=...56&page=1&pp=20 |

nah im not arguing with you, i just saw these benchmarks about 5 min before i posted them(just woke up) and wanted to see where it says otherwise.
the last few benchmarks are shit, they use 8xAA for Nvidia, and 6 for ATi, still ATi has a 10-25% lead over Nvidia in HL2, i think thats the conclusion. Lock it? |

half life 2 is just quake 2 engine still with new ai and lighting. u compare both cards with doom 3. the nvidia wins hands down. when it comes to high display benchmarks because of the 6800 faster ram
http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...st_high_quality nividia will alway win higher display setting benchmark.

First, teh X800 has a faster clock, and ATi created GDDR3. which BOTH cards use
Doom3 is an opengl game, so ATi does worse HL2 is a DirectX game, so ATi pwns. Alright? hands down ATi controls all DX9 Games but FarCry1.2 w/ Sm3.0, and only the 6800 does better in that. Ut2k4, FarCry 1.1, HL2, All ATi FarCry 1.2, Doom3, Nvidia ARE YOU ON f**kING CRACK? HL1 is based on The Quake1/2 engines. HL2 uses its own engine, which ATi controls in perofrmance. also the higher you set your settings the better ATi cards do, they are just more robust. (even in the doom3 benchmarks, the higher the settings the more the ATi Cards climb up the ladder.) Doom3 is not the standard, its the exception for new games, nearly all of them use DirectX now, and That is the area where ATi Controls. Hell if u wanna use THG as a source. here, a X800 vs 6800U comparison at the site http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...0504/index.html anjd guess what they say is better? the x800 It doesn;t really matter much anymore, but ATi has supirior hardware, and drivers, if not as good marketing. Now What you have to realize is you can't benchmark either of the 2 cards until christmas, the drivers are evolving too quicky, benchmarks can be tilted just by using an old driver version. |
