I remember when I was a younger kid, and I played Rollercoaster Tycoon for the first time. The game was unbelievable. I could ride rollercoasters that I normally didnt have the guts to in real life. With the upcoming 3rd edition, a demo was released to showcase part of what Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 had to offer. The demo includes a tutorial composed of three different parts: Camera, Ride Placement, and Custom ride building. All of these tutorials are redudant for those who have played Rollercoaster Tycoon before, but it is nice to go through the tutorial again to familiarize oneself with the new engine. The first thing I noticed while playing the tutorial was how amazing the graphics were for the game. Some might say they suck because of the low poly player models, or because of the slightly repetitive terrain textures. I think that is completely ridiculous because the amount of detail and style is enough to make me say "wow". The real time reflective water adds a really nice effect to the game, especially while riding coasters in first person view mode. Thats right folks, you can ride the rollercoasters (and even all the other rides the game has to offer) in first person perspective. Not only can you ride in the passenger seat of the ride, but you can change the camera angle and zoom, allowing for a very cinematic ride. I really dont feel like writing a long review, or talking about the game anymore because all I want to do right now is get my homework done so I can play it. All in all, I think this game is going to be a 9+ out of 10. Its really fantastic, and it brings you back to the days of being a giddy school boy at a themepark. Grade A fun.

I was what you'd call a hardcore Roller Coaster Tycoon fan. I had the 2 expansions, Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes, and after seeing this I thought itd be awesome. I played the demo, I was dissapointed. The menus, although more user friendly and stylish looking, are clunky, and many shortcuts I was used to using have been removed. Little touches like the new comic proportions of people, coasters not crashing upon hitting each other (probably will be fixed), no booster available to use for rides that used to allow booster, game looks beautiful really though because those reflections are amazing. Basically, I'm finding it very clunky to use with the small round buttons and the camera always screwing me up. It's cool (the camera), but I'm actually finding myself preferring the locked perspective simly because its much easier to build while using it. Theres my short little review of the demo. Oh and basically everything I mentioned has the potential to be fixed by release. Let's hope so, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Hmmm...I really liked the demo. I see a lot of what you have to say and was definately mixed up at first with the controls and the camera angle..i tried playing it without doing the walkthrough at the start and totally got messed up. but once i got used to it i really liked the new interface. i think it will just take some learning and patience. as to coaster crashing and boosters being added...we can only keep our fingers crossed.

so i just downloaded and played it and i noticed some things were seriously annoying. take the menu buttons as an example. in the first and second RCTs the were menu buttons for everything. where the gamershell did they go? i really miss the shortcuts because without playing the tutorial first, you'd have no idea how to do some things. other than that it was really nicely done with detailed graphics a la rollercoaster tycoon 1, but better. so its an overall improvement since rct2 was almost exactly like the first. im a fan; i give it **** stars .

Yeah I also hated how they took out a lot of shortcuts. I used them a lot in the previous games. Makes it really fast and easy to play, but not there anymore. Oh by the way, after playing the demo for several more hours, It's a lot better. And I'm really sure that most things will be fixed (wooden coaster having launched start, max launch start speed somewhere in area of 150mph etc.) I'm interested to read some of the bigger organizations reviews on it to see if that stuff got sorted out.
