Pricing/package options for HL2

The Half-Life 2 offers have been finalized. Details are pasted below. The Steam offers will be available for purchase next week. Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release."

Retail Boxes

* Standard Edition - includes HL2 and CS:Source. Ships on six CDs, in one of three box-art packages (Gordon, Alyx or the G-Man).
* Collector's Edition — includes Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source, a Half-Life 2 T-shirt and a Prima book sampler. Ships on a single DVD.

Steam Packages

* Bronze - HL2* and CS:Source.
* Silver - HL2*, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source*, Day of Defeat: Source*, Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam.
* Gold - HL2*, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source*, Day of Defeat: Source*, Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam, Complete Strategy Guide from Prima Games, 3 different Half-Life 2 posters, Half-Life 2 hat, Half-Life 2 postcard, Half-Life 2 stickers, Half-Life 2 Soundtrack CD, Chance to win a trip to Valve! (1 trip offered for every 5000 Gold packages purchased).

*To be made available upon product's release.

Bronze/Standard=50 bucks
Collecters/Silver=80 bucks
Gold= 90-100?

I say BS.

I thought iD was a bit money hungry for 55 bucks, i still love unreals 40 bucks,

but seeing this BS for up to 100 bucks... BS, Valve is just some money hungry piece of shit.

when they start selling DoD Source and HL1 source as additions, to get up to 100 bucks per HL2 issue, and throwing in BS no one wants like the shirts, valve is just a money hungry bitch.

100 bucks for all HL2 features?
30 bucks for all Unreal2k4 features and promised FREE downloads off all aditional content released in box copies in the future(ie Editors choice)?

It had better be flat our amazing to be more then 3 copies of Unreal2k4.

If valve were to release TFC source, instead of releasing it free content like BF42 or Unreal's devs do, they would probably charge people 30 bucks to get it, because all they care about is making money, and ripping people off.

Not really all that shocking. Lot's of games offer collector's edition packaging for $70+.

At least they are offering a lot of content for the $100. Still steep considering some of it is available for free downloads.

editors is ussally 60, and HL1 source should be in normal, maybe not dod, but hl1 should be. valve is money hungry and this is BS. 100 bucks for BS no one wants

Its ridiculous. I wouldnt be caught dead wearing a HL2 shirt to school. Or maybe its just me, and people seem to pick on the kids who wear videogame shirts. The only shirts that are free and are good are from Linuxworld :-D. As for the stickers and pins and subpar strategy guides, they are nothing more than fuel for a big bonfire. Half life source isnt free for download, nor is day of defeat source. You must download it standalone, or download it in the gold package. Think about it, what if you reformatted- you'd have to redownload multiple gigs of content off of steam's crappy servers going at 80kbps on any connection- waiting hours upon hours just to play a game. Valve is literally syphoning money out of our pockets as I speak. Be careful when choosing the best HL2 package. Im assuming that they wont come out with any new options- but the ones they have now suck!

Not sure where you got the cost figures from as they have not been reported any where yet.
I am sure VALVe will price it's products within reason as I am sure they are not out to rip us off.
If you think the prices are unfair, do not buy the product.

Sepht, I never thought I'd side with you over Valve, but you're right. valve is pissing me off lately and i'm losing a LOT of respect for them that I once had. Sure I'll be buying HL2 but they wanna charge me for DoD:Source?!?! HL1 Source?!? I f**king paid for those when I bought HL1 5 years ago and HL2 (when released). peices of shit valve can shove it up their ass. WarCraft III Collectors Edition Box is the best. 60 bucks for game Artbook(a real artbook, not a booklet) DVD, OST, and then some....
For Xbox it has to be Steel battalion...alone for the controll board... :thumbup:

HL2...maybe worth a download...not to spend money on that is....
