:bucky!:Constant downloaders keep trying to make up excuses to make it seem okay. Its not, its the exact same thing as going to Target or some other store and ripping off a 50 dollar watch. This HL2 situation is tricky. Valve has been lieing to us for over a year, constantly They are now jumping prices like mad But it is HL2 and as the fps gamer I am, i need to try it. Tough position. Valve needs to be taught a lesson, but that won't happen because everyone wants HL2. Even if it sucked id need to try it. |

As most people know the American authorities have already tried to shut down groups in the States and that seems to have made little impact on the warez culture. Let's face reality the warez scene is growing all the time and will continue to grow as does the gaming industry. In the electronics industry increased mass production of new products means lower individual unit prices but games still remain highly priced.
Most fps games are now better looking but shorter. HL2 is touted to be 3 times as long as the original but I don't see how that can be so. Often individual so called 'ground breaking' features are played down in the final game. Innovation comes in small quantities as often the developer wishes to save something for the sequal. HL2 will be a taster of things to come, but it won't blow your mind. Steam is set to change the way products are delivered but I would'nt personally trust a web based devlivery system developed by a company whos lapse security procedures allowed a major theft too take place in the first place with my money. The reality is that untill prices fall to more affordable levels people will be more and more tempted to download games. DVD's are cheaper than ever why aren't games? And please nobody try to say it cost more to develop HL2 than to make Terminator 3 :nxs:
