That's the exact attitude that really twists my tail.

Dress it up all you want, stealing is still stealing. If you think a pack of gum is overpriced do you feel justified in stealing it? If it's too expensive, then don't fricking buy it!

I swear, it seems as though most people these days thinks that if they want it, they deserve it, and to hell with everybody else.
My attitude? or the attitude im replying to? :bucky!:

Constant downloaders keep trying to make up excuses to make it seem okay. Its not, its the exact same thing as going to Target or some other store and ripping off a 50 dollar watch.

This HL2 situation is tricky.
Valve has been lieing to us for over a year, constantly
They are now jumping prices like mad
But it is HL2 and as the fps gamer I am, i need to try it. Tough position. Valve needs to be taught a lesson, but that won't happen because everyone wants HL2. Even if it sucked id need to try it.

As most people know the American authorities have already tried to shut down groups in the States and that seems to have made little impact on the warez culture. Let's face reality the warez scene is growing all the time and will continue to grow as does the gaming industry. In the electronics industry increased mass production of new products means lower individual unit prices but games still remain highly priced.

Most fps games are now better looking but shorter. HL2 is touted to be 3 times as long as the original but I don't see how that can be so. Often individual so called 'ground breaking' features are played down in the final game. Innovation comes in small quantities as often the developer wishes to save something for the sequal. HL2 will be a taster of things to come, but it won't blow your mind.

Steam is set to change the way products are delivered but I would'nt personally trust a web based devlivery system developed by a company whos lapse security procedures allowed a major theft too take place in the first place with my money. The reality is that untill prices fall to more affordable levels people will be more and more tempted to download games.

DVD's are cheaper than ever why aren't games? And please nobody try to say it cost more to develop HL2 than to make Terminator 3 :nxs:

Terminator 3 was much more expensive than HL2, but the market works differently for motion pictures. In most cases, the majority of the profits from movies come from when they make their run on cinemas across the world, the DVDs are usually just gravy for the studios. It's also worth noting that DVDs which approach the 30$ barrier are far and few between, simply because most people are not willing to pay that much for them. It's market economics at it's simplest: The seller wants to sell at the highest possible price, while the buyer wants to buy at the lowest possible price. At the end of the day, the seller will have to bow to the buyer's demands if he intends to sell anything, but that doesn't mean the seller has to sell at the lowest possible price, just at the level the buyer feels is reasonable.

HL2 cost like 500000 bucks to make it. The 39.500.000 that was left was spend on burgers and fast food so Gabe Newell can stay fat.
