Warez seen good for developers?

I think Valve got money from radeon and a lot of it. I downloaded HL2 from steam now i need a key.

Do you see my point. look at music cds and their prices. I know its a little different than games but still the person gets a lot of money and the cd has a reasonable price. I think you dont get it or you dont undestand logic. Its one of the thing i mentioned you dont undestand. I dont like stealing and i buy games but only for a reasonable price. The companies have a lot of money and you think they are going out of business because of warez? Do you have feelings and logic? Think about the suffering peopl and people that are poor. Did you have a rough life like some of us did?

I have a very good grasp of logic. I see game companies go out of business all the time. Why? Because they aren't making enough, or are even losing money. Tell me, just tell me, that warez isn't contributing to that. In any event, who the hell are you to say that game developers aren't entitled to make a profit for the enourmous risk and investment they put into a game. Where do you think the development money comes from anyway?

Business lesson: Investment capital comes from stockholders. Stockholders are everyday Joes like you and me. They invest THEIR hard earned income in stocks to help them out in the future, or to secure their retirement. Ever considered that fact of life when you rob a developer of their rightfully earned $50?

And what is this nonsense about poor people deserving games? There is no logic in that at all.

If you are so heartbroken over someone who hasn't gottent o play Doom 3, then send a copy my way, I still haven't played anything but the demo. Even better, start a charity for the downtrodden folks on the earth who haven't had a chance to play the game of your choice.

You are still trying to justify stealing. Basically, your premise is that if it's too expensive, I should get it anyway. How you can differentiate between software and your car, or any other piece of property is ridiculous. You didn't pay for it, it's not yours. It's not a hard concept to grasp.

Games are luxury items and not someting people deserve... however some companies like valve&microsoft neeed to learn a lesson.. make your desicions accordingly

Bucky is absolutely right on all the points. Stealing is stealing, whether it's a material object, or code. It was made by someone, and that someone wants money for it. You took it for free without permission, hence you stole it. End of story. I understand that some people are in tough position (more on that in next paragraph ) and cannot afford to buy games, however don't try to justify yourself by idiotic excuses like "if I can't touch it with my hands, it's not stealing". For some reason release groups get busted, so there must've been some law that they broke. Of course you're free to invent your own laws that will work in your own personal dream world, but for some reason they don't work in real life. Ever tried telling the cop that stopped you for speeding that your laws dictate that the allowed speed on this road is 150km/h? Try it, let me know how it works... I'm not telling you to warez games or not to, but at least have the guts to call what you're doing by its proper name (then again, you don't have to, if you prefer to live in your own imaginary world, but don't expect the society and the law to share the same opinion as you).

As for people that don't have money to buy games - those still fall into different categories. I can understand full-time students that don't have the time to work, and are thinking about what they'll eat tomorrow, downloading games. I'm pretty sure those guys won't be able to pay for the games otherwise, and even developers acknowledge that. However when it comes to unemployed people that sit on their ass in front of the pc all day long and claim to be unable to get a job... Well, that's just lame and pretty gay. There's plenty of jobs out there, not all are prestigious, but they all bring you money. Somehow the rest of us are working, no? So get off your ass, stop collecting unemployment and go find a job, you bums. "I'm warezing games because I'm a lazy bum who can't find a job - and doesn't even bother looking for one outside of 10 meter radius (my house)." is a pretty damn bad excuse to pirate games... Do you also go to a restaurant and ask for a free meal since you've got no job, or expect the movie theater to let you watch a movie for free since you're unemployed? Games are exactly the same, they're supposed to be luxury that only people that earn money should be able to afford - so no work, no play, accept it as one of the fundamental rules of life.

And a separate category are people that have the money to spend, but prefer not to spend it on games... It's because of people like you that good developers are shutting down, and you oughta be forcedly euthanized. :rant:
