Well just played it for an hour and I must say I am pretty impressed with it so far. The free-roaming option is a good laugh, but is actually quite similar to Midnight club 2. However when you near a car you want to race - the action starts as soon as you set the challenge. You then have free ride, as long as you stay in front, to race wherever you choose, the other party must then try and pass you before the distance timer maxes out. I must say I was a bit dubious about this idea at first, but I think you will like it.
In terms of quality, its feels a lot more polished around the edges than its predecessor, as you would expect and it seems they have ironed out the pixel shader problems for people running hi-res on LCD screens.
Audio is quite nice aswell, the engines sound much more beefier than before and the audio tracks are of a similar high quality...
Anyone else happy with it?

It's about time. I'm downloading it now. Oh man, it has been bugging me forever. So many screen updates and no demos or anything. Until now.

it's sweet, the engine sounds are REALLY GOOD! especially if u got some nice headphones and turn up the sound. it's like you can hear everything under the hood. all these whooosh sounds and BRRRRRRRRRUMMMMMMM it sounds real cool. and when you shift gears you hear the turbo go TSSSSssss. its cool. oh yeah if you use your NOS when you're not moving, the nos will shoot out of your hood it looks cool.

I just finished downloading and playing it for a bit. I think it's awesome. Graphics have improved alot. And I love the free roam. There is so much to be suprised by when it comes out. When I was configuring my keys I saw that they have a hydrolic function. And they've actually added the'05 Ford Mustang as I had seen one from a screen shot during install.
Just wondering, does anyone know what all of the cars being used in NFSU2 will be? Or if there is a list somewhere of the cars?

hahahahahahahahahaahahhahahahaha, headphones, i got a 300 dollar logitech speaker system, when you accelerate the hole floor shakes and when you slide through a corner, the sound of the tires almost gives me a headache
the sounds are really nice, the lightglooms on the cars suck, NFSU 1 ran a little bit better, but fortunately , the cars dont look like crap anymore in the garage , nice smooth graphics.
what still bothers me : there are too many lights on the track, the game looks more like a lightshow then a racing game :P, but with such lighteffects the NO2 effect is really cool :P

Be sure to check all 5( ) stores in the Becon (beckon?) hill area to see some preview of what you'll get in the full game , check out the accessories shop (the yellow one)
I liked it very much, especially the hydrualics! Man that's so cool! lol I do a jump start with it before every race and lift off like a drag car

Shiny roads can be changed.
I have my shiny road setting almost at zero. It looks way too shiny at anything above.

Yeah agree that´s plain kinda stupid a lightbloom effect even if the car is not caught into streetlamps.
Apart from that looks promising, they stole the part with the unlockable areas from GTA!
Fun racer as always don´t show this game to any one epileptic... :P
