Multiplayer is a big factor in most games...if a nice multiplayer feature is added, then the game will sell more. Valve is based around multiplay, and i frankly think they give you a great deal for your money. For 60$ USD you get:

HL2 -- 30-40-50$ itself
HL2 SOURCE 10-15$
DOD SOURCE 10-15$
CSTRIKE SOURCE 20-25$

Team fortress clasic

8-9 Maps. No Alteration in Game Modes.

Doom3 was made as a SP game and an engine.

HL2 is a game I would buy for some SP but mostly MP.

actually for 55 bucks you get:

HL2 w/ MP.

I bought the Silver pack on Stream a while ago and im havein the time of my life, Orginal DOD
is still kick ass and the CS:S is hella fun, not to mention all the mods.

There are Half Life 2 Multiplayer modes including Co-Op, DM, Team Deathmatch, and Combine vs Resistance Battlefield 1942 type matches with vehicles. It's meant to be a surprise thats why they havent said anything. And they weren't included in the review copies. They knew that since you have to access the internet to play multiplayer anyway, they could have them ready for download on the 16th. This allowed them to spend more time making them the best multiplayer ever.
