I agree with Sepht on some aspects. Although he didn't list any aspects whatsoever, I might have an idea of what he's getting at. The simplicity of the old forums (one big forum for basically everything gaming related, one for non gaming related, and one for skipping out on your riddalin). There was also the hardware forums and others, but honestly I don't know that the new forums, such as the MMORPG forum will be used that often. Some will definitely get quite a bit of traffic, but generally what I notice about this crowd is that they don't veer far into many genres of games.
Also, with all the main genres covered in different forums, what is there to post in the general games forum?

My recommendation. Take it back to how it was before. We don't need forums just for a game. Even thought Halo2 has a lot of attention now, it will shorten back down in a few weeks/months.
From the old forum, add a PC and a consoles(or maybe 1 for every major console) and a handhelds section. Gamersplaytime might be considered to be removed as it is pretty much dead Right now its overkill. Rules Gamerhell.com PC Games Consoles (inside of which u can make the dif console forums and the hand-helds forum) GamersHelp Not Gaming Related Krudergarden User Reviews Hardware Would be my recommendation. We don't need forums for games. May I safly assume Good made these new forums? because honostly, they aren't needed. These games occupy a lot of time at release.. and then it dies back down and we move on. IT happened w. doom3, is happening with GTA SA, and it is going to happen to HL2 and H2. Making forums for these games is just dispersing our attention. Splitting into cats isn't too smart either, too much dispersion. Too much Confusion. Unless ur restarting FPS hell and merging the mmhell forums into here. Leave it out. Let them be clumped. |

the point of reorganizing the forums is to attract more poeple, wouldn't you guys rather have 2,000 regular posters to add feedback to your posts or the same 20-25 regulars?
the way the forums are stacked now is more to give you easier mind on where to find what you are looking for when you are looking for it. would you rather swim through 300 posts to find 1 thread on EQ2 or go to a place where you will only have to swim through 5-10 change always sucks when you are used to a certain way believe me i know. as for the GH forum, it will be there for chats on what types of game you like, why you like them, general Gamershell chat about reviews, stuff like that. maybe a place to talk about the coolest demo out. or a place to post screenies of your video game moments. the other more specfic forums are for talks about the actual games in that genre not about why you like that genre, if you know what i mean. like Nxs said this may not be the way the forums will stay but we will leave them this way for a while to get the basic drift on how it's appeal is working out with newer members. we are opening a feedback forum for all of you to give your ideas on what you think about the certain new aspects of the forums. thanks, TGE

Rules Gamerhell.com PC(Hardware inside) Consoles(Handhelds inside, maybe a cat for each console) Gamershelp(could be removed or just left for people to post in the PC, HW, or console section) Not-Gaming Related(Art inside) Krudergarden User Reviews That would be my prosition. Each of those forums would be used decently. and still be focused and orginized. and still look clean, right now it looks unproffessional and dirty. I liked it before because it looked professional and clean, not a giant mess like now. This re-orginization might lose posters, disperse posters, and I don't think it will make there be 2,000 regulars. There is a search button. This whole idea of each major (game of the month, game of the month's hype, etc) getting its own forum is pretty bad. More clutter, more uselessness. Its not needed. Games pass their hype. I don't know if it was a smart move allowing you to reorginize these forums completely. I don't mind change. But now. Its hard to find general posts. Its hard to browse because i need to scroll about 3 pages.(page down 3 times to go from top to bottom) and it just looks clutter, and unproffesional A forum for Cool Game Tricks might be something you would add. really. I would start a poll on this. because I really don't think this was the right way to go. Ill stick with my prop for now. |
