The only problem I have with Half-Life2 is the map loading, It really breaks up the game. Usually you wait 20 seconds or so for the next section to load. The game is still insanly fun to play and it dosnt take away from the experience, probably the only single player game I will ever complete.

have you played far cry?........well its about the exact same loading time as that....

not nearly.
I clocked it. From Icon Click, to being ingame. 3 and a half to 4 minutes, with nothing to distract you. A lot of it is Steams BS
Ingame load times(happen every 10 or 15 min) take about 1 minute.
Really long load times. FarCry and Doom3 aren't NEARLY as bad..

Ya ya FarCry and Doom 3 are better blah blah blah.
Sepht, try adding more RAM. I load faster with my 1GIG DDR RAM system then my 512 DDR RAM system. Maybe load times have nothing to do with RAM but I notice the difference.

well.. u guys better remember to have steam off. because that startup has to go through, the map I loaded was quite big also(C17), there mighta been a steam update.
Also it wouldn't let me install it on my D drive, didn't give me the option.
Also.. uhh.. Check the specs...
EDIT:
I'm not at all saying they are better.. just that they load faster(game load takes a while in HL2 compared to D3 or FC, and Steam load needs to be added too)

I played the game 3 times with different settings and on 2 different systems and 2 out of the 3 times Steam never interfered with the load times.
