new HL2 patch...

whats up with the new half life 2 patch? i guess its suppost to help with the stuttering problem , but my game didn't even update i don't think, never saw it do anything, and theres some stupid link that takes you to the steam suppoet page, and tells you to turn down textures and turn off AA, wtf is that, that better not be the "patch" my system should handle the game with everything cracnked up, its the game that has a problem.....anyways does anybody have a clue to what is going on with this patch thing, maybe its not even released yet i don't know... :bucky!:

Downloaded it yesterday m8. Seems to have improved it considerably for me. However I have also tweaked the config files to make sure precaching is enabled.

Don't know.. all I know about the patch is that they changed the first room in Revenholm and some of the propane tanks are moved around..

yeah well how did you dowload it? just restarted steam? or what....nothing updated on my comp. and i've restarted steam several times....

Should be able to just right click Half Life 2 in the steam menu, go to properties, and if it says Up to date, it's patched, or if it isn't, change the bar below it to Always keep this game up to date.

yeah i did check that, its always been set to keep game up to date, but you should see it updating after starting steam right and i've checked everytime , and no updates, game still stutters too i can't tell if its gotten better or not...it should stop stuttering completly if it was patch cause thats just bs......i wish valve would just admit that these GCF files are causing the game to act like this......

The update only takes 2 secs on a average DSL line. If you had right-clicked steam and gone to monitors when you had first launched when the patch was out you would of clearly seen that it had downloaded something.

No progress indicator should of been shown... it was a small background update.

hmmm maybe it did update then, i don't know why the game still stutters......its not real bad! like i can still play, its just i wish i could fix it, ya know..... :bucky!:

I am with ya BIOS , have the same probs..
and they say that you must turn down your resolution and textures for better performance
i say Valve fudge you, i mean c'mon i should be able to play with AA and high res

luved the game though

still got the screen and sound hanging for a couple of seconds when loading a level, haven´t had times to tweak anything in config etc. So no difference whatsoever.
