SG-1 The Alliance community site in the making.

Hello everybody,

I've been working on a design for a community fansite for the Alliance game. The site will feature news, game info, screenshots, wallpapers, movies, downloads, forums, interviews, fan art, mods etc, etc.

However, the site needs to be built first.
To make it short, I'm looking for people who want to join me in making of this site.

The main goal at the moment is to get the site up and functional. For this I need people who can assist with the technical side. People who can implement a PostNuke, PHPNuke or whatever system they're familiar with.
Also, hosting and bandwitdh is needed.
I will handle the everything design wise, site design, forum icons and all that.

After the site is functional, filling the site with information will begin and more people will be taken on board to assist in gathering information, moderating the forums etc.

So let me get this strait, you want to start a site.

but you need money, hosting, bandwith, a site, a technical system deployed and implemented, and you want people to do this all for you for nothing in return.

You yourself are offering to make forum icons.

Did I miss anythning?

Well, you missed pretty much everything

First and foremost, money is not required. Only people with resources interested in running and maintaining a community site. In this case for the game in question. Clearly in order for people to give their time and resources they must be fans of the shows and waiting for the game. For the sake of argument, if someone asked me to participate in building a community for Doom3, I would not. I like the game but not enough to run a site. Just not interested. At this point starting a D3 site would be rather stupid aswell

Secondly, I do not understand where you read that I would do just forums icons when I clearly stated that my responsibility will be EVERYTHING design wise, not just icons. That is no easy task considering the generic portal system must be completely changed. I too am doing this for free and from my free time you know.

I don't want people to do anything for me, but WITH me. I quote myself: " I'm looking for people who want to join me in making of this site."
Clearly this post was targeted for individuals who have thought about doing a similar project, are willing to invest their time, resources and knowledge and want to team up with someone with similar goals in mind.

I didn't say D3 was stupid, I said making a community site for it at this point in time is stupid. There are so many out there already and unless you offer free copies of the game to everyone who registers or something like that, you'll have a VERY hard time becoming a popular site on any scale. And even then, they'll just take the game and never return

You want to make something, and be in charge of it, even "designing" it to fit your every whim, yet you really can't do much besides make forum icons.

Holy crap. Were you born an asshole or did you actually have to work on it ?

The sad thing is, your posts don't even really surprise me, theres always a few of you on every forum. You really have to start paying some attention to the posts you reply.

I'll give you one thing, it is true that I don't have one resource needed to make the entire thing myself. Time. As a business owner I can only spare so much of it on things I'd like to do. Also, I don't know if you've ever participated in such a project, but theres no way you can handle it all by yourself unless you're kept and have all the time in the world or you hire someone to do it. In which case the entire meaning of it would dissapear.

I stated more than once that I'm looking for people to JOIN me on this project, not to work for me.

I'm eagerly waiting to see what kind of bs you come up with now

Oh and btw, the business I run is, as you so wittily put it, a "design" firm. :P
