Thats right, i said " You must know that Eidos has not capatilized on consoles" and by that i expected you to know that.

However, you said "but it's the greedy monopolies like EA and EIDOS, whose only concerns are the almighty dollar and pandering to the lowest common denominator, that are going to tear it apart." which is false.

Except for the de2 port they made some great games, (de2 had a score of 86% on xbox, found here so not everybody of the gamepress agrees with you or me) especialy for the pc.

Change your attitude man, you started flaming and i am not attacking you in every single sentence. And about the part of semen, mentioning that alone is just pathetic.

Ironic isnt it!?
Tomb Raider 6 (AOD)
Thief 3
Shellshock Nam 67

A few EIDOS other recent games that were teahatty consolized crapola, this is just off the top of my head.

You are totaly right on that, cant argue you there ,and heres a few console titles that are great on pc. Silent hill, resident evil, gta, motogp, and medal of honour of course started it career on console (i am aware that they developed different games for that one, but it still has its roots on a console).

There is no point in this going on about bad consoleports, there are a lot of good ones too. Dont just look at the negative aspects .

Shellshock was a learning proces for developer guerilla software wich happened to be available for pc aswell, they later ofcourse made killzone exclusively for Ps2 wich turned out fine.

Thief 3 was a masterpiece in graphics and atmosphere. The gameplay sucked though.
BTW nice article, very provocative

Design, atmosphere in the environments, shadows, use of light. Damn look at that castle level somewhere in the beginning. Technically it's outdated but there was some graphical talent at work there, believe me. It's a shame it had repitive, shallow gameplay. Games like that seem great at first (because of the qualities mentioned above) but halfway through the game it all wears off and the lacking of gameplay becomes a problem.
Beauty comes from the inside. ;)

The article was okay and I agree with the concept that "PC Gaming is Dying".

I agree with a different poster in this thread however though that piracy is a large factor in regards to developers jumping ship on the PC platform. As it was shown it is sigificantly more difficult for people to steal games on a console, it is possible but you really have to know what you're doing and still have access to a wide variety of PC hardward in order to steal the software. Your average Joe, you know, the guy that goes and plops down on the couch with his mates and plays console titles isn't going to be bothered with all the hoops that you need to jump through in order to steal a console title. He's just going to go out and buy or rent the game and start playing.

Development on the PC platform is also significantly more difficult. Developers have to test the code for an almost infinite number of system configurations trying to please those of us who live on the bleeding edge of technology and still remain playable for those people who got their new Dell celeron system with a no-name videocard. This problem simply doesn't exist for console developers, instead of wasting vast, HUGE amounts of time on testing they can spend time developing their game.

I won't say that PC gaming will die altogether but I do think that as time goes on less and less AAA titles will be developed for the PC platform...especially with the new PS3 and NEXTBOX coming out soon.

After all is said I'm not a fan on console gaming, I do find that a large number of console titles are blatantly geared for 'the masses'. A large number of console games I've played have no story, simplistic controls, require little/no skill and in general would not sell well to PC gamers. All of that doesn't really matter though because it's simply easier to sit down, drink a few beers with friends and play which really is not possible with PC gaming.

So where are the AAA titles going then?

I'd say the pc still gets the most quality and the most innovation.

I remember trading in my Msx ( a home computer made by Philips in the 80's that could actaully play games and print letters, big achievement in those days where computers where not a part of everyday life yet!) for something called an Ibm 33 mhz Pc. In those days i was afraid of losing my great games and nice keyboard layout to something that i thought of as inferior, boy whas i wrong.

As we all know the pc market has since rapidly grown and produced programs and games that are great, perhaps we are now standing on the next line of computer-gaming with the console market rapidly growing out to be the new benchmark in gaming in the years to come.

If Sony really gets that new wonderchip implemented in the new ps i've been reading about, the game market on the pc might get knocked down so hard it might never recover. One of the many reasons to play on a pc is that they can play rts and mp games without making huge concessions in graphics, sound and gameplay, with these new technologies this will be possible on consoles aswell!

The AAA titles are slowly disappearing on the pc because the market for them is smaller because of consoles and, yes piracy! There is no point in developing and investing millions of dollars in great new original games that have not made a name for themselves if a huge part, if not most (u know who you are) of the pcgamers get these as warez. Of course nobody here gets games as warez, we are not the ones helping the problem grow, or are we(as i said, u know who you are!)

Perhaps those not seeing the new wave coming, should not randomize console gamers as low IQ morons, but be openminded about new trends and explore the potential as a good writer on a multiplatform! gaming site should do.

Oh,btw. As i have read my pm's (thanks for the word up on this one!) i've understood that this topic is currently being tracked by a lot of developers, I've seen the viewings of the topic grow rapidly in the last days and know this is because of emails being forwarded between companys. As you are here ghostreading the topic for marketing purposes, please comment on this at least once!
