i promised i would be making a major post for you guys out there, since there has been major announcements resulting of the 'EARS' event, participated by many Fansite owners.
first up: Demo releasedate.
down at the EARS event, these participants have been pestering Scott Evans (CEO-thingie at EA) for days about the demo releasedate. soon enough they managed to grab hold of another employee that finally spat out the confirmed releasedate of the Demo: 'Mid-june'... this isn't, according to 80 percent of the fans, a thing to be happy about, since the demo rumours start popping up since before last christmas. most of the fans wanted sometime quicker, and i definately can't blame them too. in fact, i absolutely aprove with their rant. the Demo will contain ONE MAP, with a selectible largeness.
second, Battlefield 2 ship/store date
as a result of the questions asked so many times at the EARS event, they decided to also reveal the BF2 ship/store date. current dates are now on
23rd of june, for the US and
around the 17th of june for Europe. thats right, Europeans finally get a game earlier than the US. thats a real first imo.
Battlefield 2 April newsletter
finally the april newsletter is here, and its like, 1 day before may when i got it. EA is a master in delaying, thats for sure. though the content in it is promising enough:
April newsletter: Gameplay movie
yup, we finally got ourselves a nice new video to drool at. in the exclusive newsletter, we got a good looking video playing on a nice full-scale map, presumable Strike at Karkand.
Hi-res Gameplay movie
Lo-res Gameplay movie
April newsletter: exclusive Screenshots
the letter also contains half a dozen hi-res screenshots, and dear me, they look allmost pitoresk!

Totalbf2's interview with planetcombat's Cutlass
i was unable to conjure up my own GH's interview, but for compansation, i have here a nice interview from Totalbf2.com interviewing planetcombat.com's Cutlass. Cutlass seems to be some kind of EA-helper or something. also a playtester.
How is the feel of the weapons compared to other shooters like Call of Duty or Counter Strike: Source?
Real Smooth, single shot feature is amazing, along with the iron sights. Blows away BFV and CS:S totally.
How does the helicopter gunner mode work?
You have the main gun and if you right-click goes into black and white view where you fire a wire guided missile.
Will there be any night maps?
Nothing like that.
Can you forgive a Team kill?
You can hit Page-up to forgive a team kill.
How is the response to the anti-tank missile once fired?
You can steer it pretty well.
Is there an afterburner mode for the jets?
Yes, uses the same button as sprint.
Does the medic see on the 3D map where to revive or re-heal?
The medic sees icons where to revive and re-heal soldiers.
Is the distance bug fixed from BFV where the player models looked like scare-crows from a distance?
A lot better, especially with the grass, but the commander mode is a good give away for campers.
Have the custom decals for your player model still been included?
No, it has been removed.
How many maps will be shipped with the game?
12 maps.
Any news on unlockables with servers?
You can turn unlocks on and off on any server and is basically a simple server side setting.
Will there be underground tunnels in the release or in any future updates?
There are no tunnels, but there are sewers.
Is there any bullet-drop?
From what I noticed, not to much.
Has the reload bug been fixed from BF1942 and BFV where you would be hit while reloading and have to reload all over again?
Yes totally fixed and you don't have to reload the M203 after taking a shot.
Is the US Carrier moveable or stationary?
It is stationary.
After destroying a bridge for example, will it re-spawn or will it come back after map restart?
It comes back after a map restart.
How is the ceiling height of the maps?
Haven't run into any yet.
Anything more about jets?
You can use the scroll wheel to change from missiles to bombs.
If the commander dies, what happens?
The commander re-spawns and has to either be kicked or resign to stop. You can also blow up the radar stations around the map with 3 or 4 C4 packages. The commander will also only be able to use the mode in certain areas of the map.
What about sticking C4 to people?
Unfortunately they decided to take it out.
What has been done to prevent pixel shooting? Clouds moving, weather?
They have implemented a rotating skybox, but no weather effects. I did notice a waterfall however.
Is there any artillery for players to use?
Seems as though commander is the only one that has artillery.
Can you cook grenades?
No.
Can you limit it so only players with a certain rank will be able to join the server?
No, I don't think so.
How is the overall feel while in buildings and on stairs?
Fixed. Feels how it should feel.
What about the BF2-Editor?
Looks amazing so far. Has some great features that allow you to change effects, animations, etc.
Does the game have destructible environments like craters left behind from artillery or shooting down walls?
No this feature has not be put in the game. Let me also say that it is a lot easier to get run over than previous battlefield games.
************************************************** ************************************************** **************
wow, you guys are lucky! a couple of minutes ago TotalBF2.com has posted part 2 of their interview, and this one is with Scott Evans, EA-CEO or something :P
Interview Part 2: Electronic Arts, Scott Evans.
Will there be complete AA/AF support in the game?
Yes, absolutely, depending on your graphics card you can go in and test how the different settings will look in-game.
Is the vehicle "clipping" problem fixed like in previous battlefield games?
Yes.
Does the engine support colour names?
No it doesn't, because we hard coded that for the purposes of teamplay.
For example the enemy will appear in red, friendlies in blue, and squad leaders
in yellow.
Can you comment on anything Trauma Studios has done?
We are big fans of trauma, we started working with them on desert combat, gave them some extra support which established a relationship between to us. We then contracted with them to make prototypes for Battlefield 2 like the commander mode feature.
How long will it take for the average soldier to gain ranks?
We tweaked it much like a MMORPG. Your initial ranks are easier to
achieve and as you go on, the higher ranks take more time.
Will there be an Official WW2 Mod for Battlefield 2?
Not yet, we are hoping that the community will do that, especially with the advanced modding tools that we have.
How many copies to you expect to sell?
I can't say what we have forcasted internally, but I can say that this is the most anticipated PC title for retailers this year.
Do you plan to implement any naval combat maps in future patches/expansion packs?
Anything is possible, it is safe to say that Battlefield 2 is more ground/air
oriented and not naval since those situations don't really exist in the modern era.
Has the bug been fixed where you drop a small height and get killed?
Yes it has been fixed.
here you have it guys. i don't think this is enough right now, i have tons to tell you, but i can't find any immediate things for you to know. fyi, i can't reply, because i will be on vacation in Turkey :dennis:
