I never play race simulators but I'm pleasantly supprised by this demo of Gtr. As you might know, simulators are all about a realistic experience. In the first few hours there will be plenty of times when your car starts spinning or slips for no apparent reason. You have to follow a smooth line or else your car gets off the track and your lap is lost, instantly.
On the bad side I was a little dissapointed with the graphics being a bit dull. Car engine sound isn't very impressive either.
You get a lot of tweaking options, but I haven't got a clue to how a gearbox works (and I dont want to know) so I went racing right away.
Because of its realism this game is hard but by no means impossible. It took me about four hours to drive safely around the track and was ready to attack my laptimes. When I started to get control over the car I noticed what a joy it was driving it. Car control in this game is excellent.
Gtr did the same to me as cmr2, it got me in a certain "racingmood". You start to smell the fume of oil, feel the asfalt sliding under you as you aggressively attack a corner. This feel for racing combined with the kick you get from mastering a difficult game is what makes Gtr so addictive.
Great game!
