Gamer's Hell is proud to giveway 5 copies of Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 and a $50 gift certificate to Best Buy. I know you are all asking: "What do I need to do to win these great freebies Mr. Monkey??" Welllll. GH has had pic, email, advert, screenie, and other kindsa contests I can't remember at the moment so, this time, we are going to do something a little different. Write a small poem. Yes, you heard that right. A poem. First place will get the game as well as the gift cert.. Second through fifth will receive the game. The poem does need to relate in some way to the dead or zombies.(only fitting as the game is called Dead Rising ) Example:

Live is good
dead is great

til you puked up
brains you ate

Pale skin is the way to go
until you are hit with a golf club blow

Some journalists cry
when you eat their eye

And others will scream
when you eat their spleen

Being dead is not alway fun
especially when live one can fire a gun

Tis not the best I know, but you get the point

Rules:
First place wins game and gift cert
Second thru fifth win the game
No paid employees from GH or MS can enter
Contest last til Aug 20 06
I will judge the winners

Good Luck

Hey monkay, I never knew you were a poet!?

Dead Rising looks like great fun from what I've seen, so I might give this a try. Bear in mind that I could be the world's worst poet! But then again, I guess no-one can be worse than monkay! j/k :P

Btw I thought Dead Rising wasn't coming out till September??

Also, is this US only (judging by the $50 best buy prize..)?

Hey guys, long time reader of GH.com, first time poster! thought I'd add my poetic effort

Enjoy

He takes the photos
He brings us the story
He is outnumbered
Its going to get gory.

They are living dead
They have no hearbeat
They hunger for flesh
and are filling the streets

His mind is a weapon
His fight or his fall
His source of defences
are enclosed in the mall

They vacantly stare
They vacantly stumble
They try to reach out
with low moans and low mumbles

He'll use a shotgun
He'll use what he can
He'll have to think fast
make them eat frying pan

They just want to free him
They just want to chat
They will whisper sweet nothings
as they chew through your fat

He's Ready for them now
He's got a bullet for each
He whispers 'Hey dead-head,
Take a bite of peach!'

Your in control now
Your effort is surprising
How long can you last when
you play Dead Rising

Hi guys heres a poem, about a zombie girl named Marissa. Itss not a small poem but a good 1 i tink.
It took be couple of days to make, so i hope u like it.
(Marissa is also the name of my ex GF BTW)

Marissa’s head peeks from underneath the sheets.

Days ago she saw her neighbors
Consume one another
Disease in their eyes
They were dead and hungry
She quietly bathed in perfume
Turned everything off
Sat in the dark, disconnected
Unknowing
What would come next?
She dared to eat a little dry cereal
And went to bed

Today, she listened, for hours
For anything
Hearing only her stomach
She’s so hungry, starving
A human hunger
Can she make it to the grocery store?
Should she bother with trying to live?

She skirts houses, crawls behind cars
Holds her nose against the stench,
Past the dirt pit
Past the industrial complex
Past the gas station, closed so long ago
Past the ancient schools
Past the churches
Past the Goodies
Past the old folks home
Past the funeral parlor
Past the billboards and political flyers

She saw she wasn’t the first
To raid the dry goods
A can of green beans
Saved for her
Rotten flesh all around
Has ceased to affect
Except, strangely the hound
Legless in the parking lot
Eyes left
Seem to beg....

She returns as she came
Past all that remains
All the signs of the old consumption
Made absurd by the new hunger
Made absurd by death

Home comforts
But, Marissa knows
She must leave, soon
Perhaps by the light of the moon
A survival bag, first aide kit
Water bottle, bat
Is toilet paper necessary,
Anymore?
A brush, the last bit of make-up
Shampoo, love letters....

By the time she is ready to sleep
One last night in her own bed
The sun is gone
There is no moon
Deathly quiet in her room
She thinks of her lover
Never came home that day
Working late, she likes to think
She smiles
This was really his bed
Marissa slides under the sheets
From which each morning she peeks
Teeth sink into her shoulder
She knows it’s over
He has made it home after all
And she feels the absurdity of her life
Drain into reason.

~The End~

I hope u guys like it

Well, that's my fave so far. I can go for a good free-verse (or whatever that is...no rhyme scheme) every once in a while.
I've got a Q for NSX:
Are we allowed to edit our posts, or is our first post out last? Cuz I want to know if I should wait til the end to make my post just in case I think of something good.

Heres mine, it's called The Night the Dead Rise

When zombies attack, get the f*** back,
For if not you get back, you are probly on crack!

They moan around, with their arms out to reach,
all they want is your brains, you son of a beech! (lol)

Shoot them with shotguns, blow out their guts,
You will hate them, much more than Nxs hates mutts! (Insider )

They will always keep coming, in huge countless numbers,
not matter how many you kill, they will never slumber!

When you run out of ammo, you are screwed man,
Your only other choice, will be a huge frying pan!

The mall is no longer a place of the living,
the dead will kill all, they are not forgiving!

If you think guns will save you, you'd better think twice
They will venture headless, as a word of advice!

So in closing I tell you, it would be very unwise,
to be in the mall, on the night the dead rise!
