Alright, so I'm about 6 hours late of my Saturday guarantee...I'm still on time. :dennis:
I had an inspiration for this idea. Some of you may have heard of (but I doubt it) the Trackmania Freestlye Cup (footage of the Cup winners shown Here). Basically, these guys set up tracks in Trackmania. People download them and then record their best 5-minute runs, send them in, and they are judged. Best wins recognition. Well, there's a game very similar to Trackmania on the PSP. Gripshift contains similar track-building, cartoony car physics, and crazy track designs. So I figured it would fit the same mold. To officially state it: I would start the Freestyle League. This would be a web-based (possibly eventually clan-based) group dedicated to doing things in games that not neccessarily win the game, but certainly look awesome. I would start it up using the PSP and Neuros to record PSP footage of myself doing cool stuff in Gripshift, Pursuit Force, and other PSP games where awesome stuff happens. With the stage set, I would open it to everybody. At first, we'd focus on the PSP, particularly the "entry games" (the ones I recorded at first). There would be forums, downloads, videos, screens, and all sorts of cool stuff related to the Freestyle League. Once we got enough support, we would graduate to consoles and PC's. At this point, anything cool-looking goes. You drive an entire track the wrong way in Gripishift, doing 3 jumps backwards? Post it. Jump a boat into a parking garage in GTA? Bring it. Parachute put of an airplane, sniping six guys and landing on the flag in BF? Let us see it. Any brilliantly cinematic moment is fair game. People have been doing stuff like this for ages...even back in N64 days I remember playing Re-Volt and trying to get my cars to flip over jumps, do 360's, and stuff like that. Well, now there will be a site dedicated to it. With the Neuros to record the footage and the PSP to provide some of the first games, I would have a good starting base for this. With enough expansion, this could become a hub of videogame stunts. Somewhere inside them, so many people would love this. Just remember that one time you drove a Warthog over a huge jump onto an Elite...then found nobody to show it to. That'll never be a problem, now. Record the footage, post it on the site, get it rated, and do more. A simple cycle, yet one that leads to so much fun. Games were always designed to be something that we played for fun...played for the fun of it. At the Freestyle cup, we're bringing this ideal back to gaming. The Freestyle League--making gaming awesome again. Oh, and one further note: I've already got a Neuros 2 from my victory in an earlier contest. (it rocks) If it would be okay with NXS, If I win, I'd prefer if the recorder was sent to 2nd place. Thanks. Note: Like LS, I couldn't get this done now. To be honest, I need a PSP (easy to get with a vote for me!) and somebody with the website expertise to get this going. But if you guys show support for it by voting for it, I might consider actually doing this. ![]() Oh, and, call it peer pressure, but I photoshopped a crappy little banner thing because LS had one...this is what you get with 15 minutes of no-talent Photoshopping: ![]() ![]()
