Out of all the people I have asked that question over the years (people that have claimed to be video game cheat experts no one has ever answered it correctly!!!~ You are the first to get it!!!~

Uh.. I dunno if this was before SMB, but on the Bubble Bobble arcade machine, at least in UK anyway, if you pressed the P1 and P2 buttons at the same time, you could have 2 players on the one credit.

Does that count?
