I'm up and down and round about,
Yet all the world can't find me out;
Though hundreds have employed their leisure,
They never yet could find my measure.
I'm found in almost every garden,
Nay, in the compass of a farden.
There's neither chariot, coach, nor mill
Can move one inch except I will.

What am I?

Air, or water?

first i thought wheel, but now i'm starting to think that water is the right answer...

Reading it again makes me think 'Wheel', as a chariot cant move without one.

I thought wheel, but since i suck at riddles I think it's something else

What the hell does this line mean? I can't find farden anywhere.
