I want to spec up a new machine. I currently have an Athlon64 3400+, but want to get 2 of the new dual-core CPUs. Is it possible to do that with these new cores or am I going to have to spec up an Opteron?

Basically I was asking if current spec AMD Athlon64x2 dual-core cpus worked in a dual CPU environment. HD gave the answer I was suspecting...

I have built plenty of dual and quad CPU config servers and workstations I just wasnt sure on the new dual-core configs from AMD. It seems odd that the CPU architecture supports multiple processors internally and not on a mainboard solution...

Anyone from hwhell enlighten me?

I think GM is going to use it in both work and games.
That’s why the dual.core technology is fore. multitasking. ;)
