well, i got my motherboard to work an' all, but i needed to format the entire HD (yeah, there goes your brilliant 'just repair windows' idea GM... nothing worked. it sucked tbh.)
my internet seems to do weird. ( no i cannot connect!) so i typed /ipconfig /all in 'cmd' prompt and it just says this: windows ip config and then asks for another command just like it did before it. so no info, no ip's, no subnet masks, no nothing! what do i do? it does not react to ip /renew or /release... i have a router on my system, and it should work immediately, but since i have absolutely NO info regarding what ip i have (in my network that is 192.168.2.4) so i can't make my router connect to it or allow a connection. that said, i have also no power to connect to my routers network ip (just type 192.168.2.1 in my internet browser and it should work, but firefox tells me the connection was REFUSED by the address i just typed!)... i don't think any drivers i need to have... i will be searching, and i am installing SP2 now. my old motherboard did need some drivers, i think... ************************************ another error: as i start the computer, it says something like this: scanning IDE drives. . . . . . no drives connected with FastTrak, BIOS not installed. what the hell does he mean with that? please, this is important. WHY DOES IT ALWAYS GIVE ERRORS!?? WHY??!!

I tried to help you out with this issue just a few minutes ago! Don't return my generosity by bad-mouthing me! Repairing windows or re-installing windows by deleting the windows folder DOES work! I do it at least twice a week at work as it is my job you ignorant twat! Repairing or re-installing (NOT FORMATTING) will delete your registry and any INF files (drivers, etc) from the HDD but keep your profile and program files completely intact! If for whatever reason you find re-installing windows difficult I recommend you stick to console gaming or playing with your lego bricks! Consider yourself blocked from my MSN! |

The most likely reason you are not getting a response from your network is because you haven't installed your nic drivers.
Funny, I just re-installed windows to correct a goofy error over the weekend and everything works great. Its a standard procedure.

the correct way to do what gm is talking about and the easiest way is to remove all your hardware drivers before removing your old componets that way windows does not get confused (which happens verry easily long live linux!) shutdown and then install your new stuff and reinstall over the old windows installation or repair
as for your newest problem double check that your nic drivers are installed correctly like bucky said. If they seem to be ok remove them and reinstall them. if that still does not work nuke your communication stack. and if that doesn't work then just buy a new nic they are too cheap now to deal w/ a major hastle.

well... like... sorry m8.... i thought you could handle some criticism.
thing is i misunderstood your help when it came down to 'repairing windows'.... you said to google it, and understand it like a true IT master. well, i did, but it seems i found the WRONG solution. i hope you understand the fact i WAS rather pissed i needed to resort to format everything when i wrote it. better yet, you DID help me out long before anyone else. you said my connection adapter's supposed to be installed and everything. i found out that both my ethernet controller and my PCI (realtek gigabit LAN) ethernet card were showing big question marks in hardware. i thought i'd installed them, but i contineud inserting the disc of my mobo, and started looking for updates via the windows wizard. it did show an enourmous list of software to install, and since i am NOT thát kind of a noob, i chose the correct one. my ipconfig began to show (thank goodness) and all seemed nominal. i still couldn't access my router and internet via my pc, but when i entered the physical address in my router and rebooted the thing, IT WORKED! so yeah, i do owe you an apology and i certainly need to thank you. Sorry my friend, and thanks. it worked.
