so, a good friend of mine came to school one day having bought a psp. at first i didn't care much about that stuff, since i find it having too less functions. dear lord, was i mistaken! it gots all the functions i would ever need. and after some f-zero, i fell in love.
however, in the back of my head it start pounding, because i thought of buying an Xbox 360. since i don't know įll the features of both systems, could someone help me decide which one is worth the money most? right now 300 euros for a psp plus game, and when its released an xbox for 400 euros (who wants that xbox incarnated crap core package anyway?). well, i want to know what you guys think? PS: don't start spamming around that i must buy the PS3. i didn't ask for that, and who wants boomarang controllers anyway? it sucks imho, and there is no way to make me change my mind.

well technically F-zero CAN work on it, with a little help from MAME, and a little jiggery pockery
but more then likely he was talking about wipeout pure anyway, im not a big handheld guy myself, but the features are VERY good on the PSP but then again, why have a handheld when you can have a full blown NEXT-GEN consoles instead personally, id say, if you have a top end PC, dont bother with the 360, cos you have something comparable to/better then it right there (with a little upgrading) if on the other hand you dont have that great of a PC, go with the 360, nothing beats a bit of next gen elder scrolls, or the amazing looking gears of war. as for features of the 360, it does a lot, instant voice chat through xbox LIVE (which is free with the silver service), really good usb conectivivty, allowing non-microsoft products to be used with it (i-pod, PSP, mobile phones etc) plays DVD's obviously, CD's, obviously (and yes it can play the dodgy CD's and DVD's too for all you pirates out there) but mainly, it plays damn sweet looking games....oh and its HD too, so if you have a HD-TV, its gonna look even better, oh yeah and backwards compatability. hope that helps?!?

ahhh, thank you very much.
since i already have a high-end gaming pc, i think i will go for the PSP. however, you just as well made my decision fade into the great possibilities of the Xbox. i will read them through, and then again, think of what would be smartest. any other opinions on this?

If you decide on a PSP, go with firmware version 1.5. You will have to buy it used, but you can run all homebrew on it. Never update it with any version higher as Sony has fixed these security holes.
1.5 is able to run SNES, NES, GENISIS, NEO GEO CD, AND GBA emulators. Theres lots of hacks available for the PSP (v1.0 or 1.5) which makes owning one half the fun. Theres other benefits to owning a 1.5 too, I currently have EVERY psp game out, some before they were released.

I have a PSP right now, but I don't find myself using it all that much. There are a few cool games, such as Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and Ridge Racer, but a majority of the games aren't that great. The most appealing aspect of my PSP is its ability to use "homebrew" apps, such as SNES emulators and there is even a way to get the original Doom to play
Personally, if I had the choice between an Xbox 360 or PSP, I would go with the Xbox 360 because I think its going to be around for a lot longer and have a much better lineup, and while the PSP is certainly a cool piece of hardware, it still needs to receive a lot of support from game developers. You could always buy a Gizmondo ![]() |
