I have a x800 (AGP) and 2x 7800GTX in SLI and my image quality is way way better on the nvidia setup even in Single card mode.. Current SLI settings for BF2 are 1280x960/16xAF/16xAA with SM3.0... Need I say more?

... oh and ATI have not announced a 32 pipeline card yet as all the current 'next-gen' boards have 16 and will perform under the equivalent Nvidia product. ATI cant get the yields from fabrication just yet, so expect to pay $100-150 more for the slower ATI aswell, because they have to cover costs!

Not a fanboy, but it looks like ATI have slipped up and got PWNED again by Nvidia!

Are you rich or something? Why spend over a grand on graphics cards? I dunno

I absolutely agree, the 7800 is a great card and has really made a new difference in gameplay and many newer games.

Where did i say XT850 is better than a 7800gtx?
I think your getting a little mixed up,i said if the 7800gtx IQ matched my X850XTPE then it would PROBABLY run slower.
I uninstalled a x850xtpe before fitting my 7800gtx ie i instantly noticed the difference in IQ,and btw the driver settings were my first port of call.
Whilst on the subject,why arn't all NV driver settings optimised for best quality by default?
I guess its for the nubs who ain't got a clue,but hey they get cool BM scores,so who cares?

Do you seriouly think i can afford £360 on a gfx card and not even bother to optimise the driver settings? (before sending it back due to utter dissapointment) :bucky!: believe me i can't,i've already said im running a MATROX G200 PCI until x1800xt is released.

Maybe You could've pointed out(a lil more constructivly)the images i've provided are not in the same league as your 7800gtx's?rather than jumping to conclusions,telling me i didn't have the drivers optimised?i mean WTF?

DRIVER SETTINGS@HQ+VS ON,
BF2=EVERYTHING SET TO HIGH 4XAA 1024X768(FIRST SCREENSHOT 1600X1200 EVERYTHING SET TO HIGH 4XAA.

DOOM 3=EVERYTHING SET TO HIGH(NOT ULTRA) X8AA 1280x1024.

I tried everything for my 7800gtx to display games with decent IQ,as you can see with the screenshots, nothing worked.
Although the 7800gtx was constantly pulling in more FPS than my x850xtpe,i continued to notice degradation in IQ,to the point of pure frustration(why didn't i think of optimising the driver settings,D'OH)

As a senior GH member i'd of thought you may of gave a more helpful/reasonable/even mature reply,yet you make yourself sound like a NV fanboy who's a lil upset coz im picking on his favourite grfx manufacturer.

I used to have more respect for you,or at least your posts/artwork to expect such a shallow/crap reply.
Im sure i'll live whatever you,or anyone believes,im through trying to defend myself.

I dont know i think im also gonna have to disagree with everyone runnin down the 7800 and sayin the radeon card kicks its ass because im gonna be gettin one soon and thats not why im backin it up because i can change my mind at anytime its just that i dont fork out that type of money for nothin so i have given a rather large amout of my time lookin into it and have seen nothing but amazing screen shots and blazing frame rates.If u dont beleive me go down to hardocp.com and check out all the 7800 reveiws they all prety much point to the 7800 as the winner by a long shot.Take a look there you will see comparative screen shots of the two cards mentioned in this post even in the same game DOOMIII.

OK this is my last post(in this thread)before asking the mods to lock it as its turning into some kind of ATI Vs Nvidia BS.
To clarify i was totally disapointed with my 7800gtx admittidly the frame rates were awesome,in particular SSCT compared with my x850xtpe but i wasn't happy with the image quality.
To this day i've only ever seen my 7800gtx in action,maybe the card was caffuffled,i never had chance to compare it with another 7800gtx before swiftly sending it back.
GM's response tells me the card may of been a dud,he owns 2 and believes i didn't have all the options turned up(which i did)hence his 7800gtx produces better IQ than the model i owned.
Its also hard to believe such a well acclaimed card could produce these bland images,they were even worse in real time most notably texture shimmering and poor AF.
As i've already stated it may of been my card that was knackered,but this was my first foray with Nvidia and once bitten twice shy.

Anyone who owns or are thinking of buying a 7800gtx i wish good luck,i've only wrote about my experiance with the card,i hope yours differs in a good way.
