First look at ATI r520

Its not a benchmarked review but there's pictures and stuff (enough to make me jealous)

I could go into a major rant on why not to buy a 7800gtx but this card has depressed me enough.
I've been busy arguing back and forth with my retailer trying to get a refund under the Distance Selling Act which i've suceeded in doing.

OK just a little rant,i'll keep it short,

The 7800gtx image quality sucks sooooo bad even if future driver releases fixed the problems to x850xtpe standards it would probably run slower than a x850xtpe!
In game texture shimmering and iq make games annoyingly unplayable!
The only reason for the high benchmark scores is becouse of MASSIVE sacrifice in image quality.
I've never bought or used a nvidia gfx's card until now and never ever will again!
Nvidia have brainwashed the public by tweaking their drivers resulting in higher benchmark scores hence suckers like me going out and buying there"high end chip"
S00oo fook if my 3dmark05 score is 20% higher my fooking games look 40% worse!
Peeps who disagree either havn't seen the image quality of a x850xtpe or they own a 7800gtx and aint got the khonies(unlike myself)to admit they've wasted £370!
Nvidia have turned me into what i hated most---->a ATI fanboy--->i hate them for it!
Anyone thinking of buying a 7800gtx YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED trust me they suck donkey dick bigtime!

Thought i'd post a few Doom 3 and BF2 screenies to show what im trying to say!
Admitidly the screenshots would look poor using any graphics card as i took them around the same in game locations with no action at all.
Im not looking for screenshot of the month i purposely done this as it further highlights the bland iq/textures/filtering.

I ran 3d05(only once with nothing oc'ed)to see if the card matched published benchmarks it scored 8575 this is about right for my setup.
The few days the card was in my rig it ran 100% stable plus the expected 3d05 score pretty much rules out it being faulty.
As stated earlier 3d05 counts for nothing when your games look like tat.

Make your own mind up if you want to shell out £$£ for a graphics card that produces these images im only trying to give you a heads up not to make the same mistake i did.

I just noticed i've highjacked my own ATI post and turned it into a 7800gtx bashing :starwars:

yes the x850xt and co look a lot sharper than that dude

NOT impressed at all. i mean, those BF2 screenies suck as a matter of fact. my current setup looks ALOT better currently. and that on 1280X1024 without AA/AF.

those card manufacturers only brag about what they are capable of, but they ain't keeping their promises. i wanted FEASABLE evidence of this card OWNING. i find no nice graphics at all.

I posted a link to an article who mentions the utterly poor image quality from the 6X and 7X series of nVidia, let me chip it out.

Just found out i have to wait upto 30 days to be refunded!
Looking on the bright side i should be reimbursed before r520 release(with a bit of luck)

Check this message i've just recieved from XFX support team:

"Hi, we have looked at your screenshots and noticed on one of the BF2 images that there is a green diagonal line across the screen, this looks like a corruption in game. Have you checked all your clock speeds, if possible can you let us know what they are reading at? Kind regards Paul"

Personally i can't notice any green diagonal line in the BF2 shots?
I guess they have uber technology that can scrutinise the images and pick out any defects.
As for my clock speeds,they were default 450mhz core and 1.25ghz memory.
At least XFX have noticed something amiss with the screenshots they probably think i've overclocked the card to death!
Who knows?maybe the card was knackered?
Its to late to fix now as its sent back and i for one won't be looking back

Exactly what i was thinking
