OK here's the deal.. my parents have a prehistorical Pentium II 350Mhz with a ASUS P2B ACPI 1014BETA003 motherboard
they got a virus that deletes a .DLL file from windows which means that basically they can't enter cd-rom, USB or anything from windows, but all is recognised in BIOS so what i planned on doing was to reinstall WIN98 for them, but then again that means i would need all the drivers for the motherboard,NO? so where do i get them and do I really need them? and which ones do i need (i heard it was kind of a whole bunch) PS they don't have any disks whatsoever with drivers on it THX boys

Your motherboard is a Asus P2B,
Firstly click here---> Asus.com To the right of the screen, you should see the following options: SELECT PRODUCT/SELECT SERIES/SELECT MODELS: Click SELECT PRODUCT choose MOTHERBOARD "9th from top" Click SELECT SERIES choose SLOT 1 "3rd from top" Lastly click SELECT MODELS choose P2B "5th from top" You'll now be redirected to the drivers, utilitys and bios revisions for your motherboard. WAIT!, There are no drivers listed for your motherboard, just a couple of utilitys+bios revisions? Oh well,You should be OK reinstalling WIN98 without a worry [i said should be OK ]GL When you've finished installing windows,it won't harm to download/install the relevent updates for your comp[help prevent further attacks] Go here---> Windows 98 updates D'oh im so tired, just realised,Why can't you delete the virus? what AV software detected it? Try runing Trendmicro free online scanner or BitDefenders online scanner alternatively you can download/install AVG Free Anti Virus (might save you alot of hassle) |
