As the Xbox360 launch nears im beginning to panick as to wether upgrade my PC or not. The thing is my Brothers and some mates will be getting a 360 pretty much at launch date, Im thinking would it be worth upgrading anything on my PC just to match the quality of the new visuals on the 360 or have i realy got enough raw gaming power in my PC to easily match the console. If i lag behind the xbox then quite simply i will get it in my ears off everyone else about how an xbox360 is far better than my sub standard pc. I will not be able to hack that sort of abuse no way so check my spec out.
AMD athlon 2800+ 1gb ddr333 (2x256mb + 1x512mb) 400w psu nvidia BFG 6800gt 256mb oc Im averaging 40-45 fps ish Running HL2 in max resolution MAX everything in fact and i was showing it off to everybody and anybody who cares to know me. I cannot be beat, My computer must be able to match almost anything a 360 can throw. P.L.E.A.S.E tell me im right. |

your sys will probably be fine for most games that'll come out this year, but for the next gen shooters in particular you'll want to upgrade. you could consider going the dual core path and getting a 4200+ or a 3800+. for this you'll need a new mobo, probably a new power supply, some new ram (2x512mb corsair or mushkin is good), and a pci express vidcard (lots of good budget choices). you should be able to get a decent sum of money for your current stuff though, so it doesn't have to be too expensive...

PC's will not have the tech that's going in the xbox360 yet. For instance, the graphics card that microsoft and ATI created with the 48-way pipelines will not been seen in high PC's until later 2006. You'll get to see types of technology early with the 360. Don't get me wrong though I still like PC's. But the 360 has the mathematics of a supercomputer, and believe me I've gotten the chance to actually play it. Let's just say the graphics you seen of ghost recon 3 trailers in rainbow six:lockdown, gears of war trailers, chromehounds, etc. are definately real-time gameply. The power of the 360 and its AI are easily state-of-the-art.

Most of my money is taken up in my PC, the only way i could fund for a 360 is if i sell gfx card. But i believe my card has more to show for itself, My system isnt that good so to get all of the cards effects (pixel shader stuff, vertex shader?) things in there true glory then i need to upgrade my pc. I have to admit that the trailers ive seen of the 360 are what i was expecting last autumn when i paid 260 big ones for my beloved BFG 6800gt. Prey on the 360 looks hard, core walking up walls n stuff
well! Im having a hard time as to what to do. But cheers tho ha  |

if ya wanna make your mates jelouse you gotta get f.e.a.r no question
but the 360 and PS3 will out perform any computer we've got for the next 2-3 years the pecs are impressive but those consoles are superiorly built and will out perform a pc with the same specs but yeah crossfire x1800XT + AMD FX57  now dat would make people jelouse |
