so i'm about to buy a new pc, not a custom made, just a Packard Bell (Imedia 6300 in Belgium, I noticed they're named differently in the UK and such)
but I still got a few motherboard questions. (just a few things my brother really wants to know, to make sure the pc does not suddenly turn out to be a piece of shit or something) -so first of all it's a "Motherboard Eberly (GA-K8VM-P-NF)", never heard of Eberly, anyone got any information? -second, "CPU Support * Socket (Socket 754) for AMD Athlon 64 (previous names : K8, Clawhammer) processor" isn't 754 a little old? that's what my brother's thinking at least -third, "High Bandwidth 533 MB /Sec 8-bit V-Link Host Controller south Bridge Interface" a little info on the V-Link Host Controller would be nice, neither I or my brother have any idea what's it all about ![]() so that's it, if you want to read all about that mobo, here's the link thanks  |

First.
The eberly mobo is not worth mentioning. It's not good and it's not bad. Not the most impressive mobo around but it does what it is supposed to do. Second The latest socket is 939 and supports way more processors than the 7 series. Don't bother getting a new pc if it is filled with old stuff is my motto on that. The third i don't know. EDIT: I do know, it's a plug you put in your ear and then the plug sends your brainwaves to the pc. This means you could also do with a few bits of bandwith Whats the budget on your pc, there must be better stuff on the market for that price. Good luck mate

well, this is the pc Imedia 6300 (benelux name)
I know, the specs are in dutch, but it's pretty universal, no?? it's 822 euro, without screen...what you say 'bout that? my parents just don't wanna go through the trouble of having one custom built, since that just takes more time and because my brother would want to put it together, and that would even take more time and frustration (and no handy pick up and repair garanty ) |

Building your own pc can be frustrating. I never had any real problems with building a computer, but i can imagine some people do. Heres a nice little explanation in the universal language i also speak in the netherlands.
Personaly i think that that 900 euro for this pc is way too much (that's after taxes). You could get a way much better and faster pc on that budget but you would have to do without that nice little warranty. I can imagine your parents not being too happy about that one, errors with expensive hardware are always created by impatient kids who don't take that extra minute to check if everything is well connected. I love those kids since they always create some extra (overcharged ) work for me. However, if you take the time and let your parents and brother doublecheck your work there should be no problems at all. It's all a matter of proper reading and taking the time to see what you are doing.Good luck luck and don't forget to at least purchase an extra 512 mb ram as this computer lacks power because of it
