error 1335

could anyone pls help me im going out of my mind. i have a n error which says
error 1335. The cabinet file'data1.cab' required for this instillation is corrupt and cannot be used. This error occurs when i try installing new games about halfway through any game installation. any ideas would be greatly appriciated, because i got new games which need playing. HELP!!

my brother had some error mssg come up when installing some games, turned out it was a problem with his dvd drive.. you checked the disks for damage?

My disks are fine they are brand new, its wierd cos it just started doing this error for no reason at all, flipping pc's can be a nightmare eh?

I had the same issues with BF2 and some other new games. Could be that your drive firmware is out of date. Go to google and type in your drive model number followed by firmware. Flash the new image and reboot. Worked for me...

I have been getting this error too..
I tried installing Black & White 2, Fable, and I also tried downloading and installing the Ages of Empires III demo but all of them came up with the same error.
If I go to ignore I then get a 2350 error and then a 1603 error after that. I tried swaping out my HP dvd640 with a known working cd drive but that didn't have any effect. I also tried installing the latest windows installer but still got the same errors.

Before I resort to a reformat, anyone have any ideas?

Well I had tried several things to get it working from flashing my bios, reinstalling my motherboard drivers, swapping out a known good cd drive, attempting to install the demo from safe mode but none of those things worked. Today I decided the hell with it and format.

after I got the bear minium installed and setup (drivers and all) I tried installing one of the games and still got the error.. I tried again after doing all the windows updates and it still failed.

I'm begining to believe that it could be a hardware (mainly motherboard) issue.
I've been planning on buying a new system from the ground up when I get the money but that won't happen till a good month or so.

*EDIT*
One more thing I should add is I am able to install older games such as Kotar 2, Armada 2 with no problem and they run fine too.

i had this too, computer started stuffing up, newer installer applications wouldn't work (it's not your DVD drive) gave up smashed my Intel board (sack of crap) pawned off the rest and now i got no computer

i think those newer installers rely on windows and it's becoming corrupt format or destroy!

p.s. it's taken me all this time since i last posted to get it sorted out

Hello im new to this forum and i dont really no how long its been up but im having the same problem with fable and NFSU2 and XmEn Legends 2 they all worked before i used service pack to, could it be the video driver i use or somethin please help i love these games
